As Noria says above, it was reported in the news today today that two freezers were plugged into the same socket, cutting the available current by 50%.

The government has since issued a special directive to plug no more than one freezer into any one socket.

The problem didn't relate to the deep freezer but occurred due to power shortage stemming from overloading sockets.

But it was also scrambling to secure enough special syringes needed to extract six full doses from each vial

turns out the special syringes aren’t even needed to get the full six doses. With a very slight technique change it seems a regular syringe will do that just fine.

What a high tech country, they can make hello kitty apps, but not think forward to put sensors, or alarms for monitoring the freezer that is storing critical vaccines for the people of the country.

These are not medical freezers! Just plain consumer deep freezers for frozen foods. bhbhbhahahaha... Oh man Japan is such a Joke. Now the Japanese blame game starts. In the end, they will realize that the outlets and breakers could only handle 2 freezers not 1000. Shikataganai!!!! Just poor planning overall. kondo, Gambarimasho....

Who made the freezer ???

Why can't they just use the vaccine as soon as it arrives. This endless planning is criminal.

I wonder which freezer firm with close ties to Suga was awarded the contract and is being protected. Or, I wonder which politician bought shares in the freezer firm before they were awarded the contract. Obviously the best company wasn't given the contract, but one that either lied or cut corners. Nevertheless, accidents like this shouldn't happen when the product is literally 'life saving'. There needs to be a backup power system incase of failure, just like there should have been backup generators (that worked) at Fukushima. Or even back-ups for the back-ups because the chances of back-ups failing is quite high because they aren't used and maintained as often as they should be.

dont worry by then the UK will have vaccinated a large proportion of the population, so I think we can sell Japan some of our surplus stock.

HimariYamada:

LOL at the above comments. One freezers fails out 100 that is 1% defect rate. That means 99% are working. The standard defect rate is 5%. in manufacturing and it is higher in the west.

Aha, yes of course... I can quite imagine the reaction of the client at the presentation of this fact after a couple of tons of vegetables or meat was destroyed.

I've consulted at labs that have freezers like these. They typically have alarms and monitoring because the things stored inside at vital. It's so odd no one noticed.

These alarms can be heard from quite a distance, even if your not in the room and the door is closed. I suspect nobody was anywhere near the freezer, perhaps not even in the building.

I own one of the cheaper brands (Kanou) that was mentioned a little while back. I've had it over 6 years, no problems.... yet.

A bit more thinking or flexibility could have helped. Instead of throwing it away it could still be used , for instance in lower priorities groups. What could happen? It was still good and those people gained immunity what really counts. Or it was useless and only like placebo, but they were still not eligible for vaccinations that early and will therefore get the working shot again later. So just use it, anyway! What is so difficult to understand?

"We would like to respond quickly to whatever is necessary...",

unfortunately, we are organizationally moribund and individually inept..... which is extremely regrettable.....

I work in a company where we deal with refrigeration (food industry).

The essence of cold rooms is to keep a desired constant room temperature which is displayed on the computer (SCADA) so that in case of failure of the coolers and the consequent rise in temperature, an alarm is triggered (but not the same as for an air attack :)).

What I want to say is that beside displaying the alarm on the control computer, the person in charge also receives an SMS to take the necessary measures.

So it seems strange to me that no one knows how and when this happened because all the abnormal conditions are also kept in event logs.

All the pretended ‘superiority’ of methods and leading technological innovations in Japan are just a facade. The world now knows it’s best at wasting time and money .

Investigation? In Feb, readers couldn’t understand the disparity of the number of vaccines ordered and doses needed. The waste (possibly diverted) doses or spoilage will be ‘swept under the rug’.

Sooner or later unveil the freezer maker’s real situations , the sort of tendering process and so on .

On the article doesn’t roll out yet .

Anyhow can see any shadow of the Japanese device trader that means a lack of clean and tidy .

As many of the government initiatives are given to companies with political connections or those that promise large kick-backs, it is no wonder that incompetent companies would be selected.

Isn't it interesting that they are not announcing the name of the company? It may well be the same with the abe mask ordeal, with the company being a

admitting he had "no idea" how much of the population would receive the jab before the Olympics, which start on July 23.

Stop with the colloquial BS. It's not a "jab", it's an injection or vaccination! Too often here, REALLY esoteric get's used, and then it goes off the other deep end!

Also our valuable tax wasted at the same time , using the vaccine purchase by the Japanese Government .
