Hopefully she is just lost and will be found soon.

@JapanToday - Can you not embed the tweet, or post a photo etc.?

It’s kind of common sense that such details could be vital in this situation.

Why does everyone depend on tweeting? Get out there and find her.

@Hollis - I would second your suggestion on this one. If at all possible embed the photo. It can only help and it is already in the public domain (Twitter).

There is a poster with some photos of her in Le Figaro. Apparently she is epileptic. Here is the link.

Maybe that's an additional solution to reach a maximum of people so then they have a picture of her and can actually get out and find her ?

Wow, it would seem we're hearing about this late. Hope she's found but this story needs more information.

Keep in mind that today is August 6th, she was last seen on July 29th and she is a foreigner...

I am guessing that by the time the hotel contacted the police and the police were trying to get in touch with family and/or the French embassy, it took a few days to confirm details, particularly with the weekend just having passed by.

Why are we only hearing about this now? And why from a relative on Twitter. why not the police?

Very sad, hopefully she will turn up soon.

I hope that the next Issei Sagawa or Obara or Ichibashi hasn't appeared before her.

Its 40degrees and there are bears out there. But only a week or so, hope she will be found.

She disappeared in the forest excursion near Nikko in these heat days, and suffer epilepsy to fell out somewhere on the way. She's in a grave situation if it's the case. Hope the police find her safe and sound.

Epilepsy is a scary thing to live with. Black out once at the wrong moment or in the wrong place, and it can be over. Hiking alone in the woods is dangerous enough in this heat, without added complications.

Yeah, and where do we start looking? How about people who can't go out and look but might coincidentally see her or know something about her? They shouldn't use modern technology?

Hope they find her.

There wouldn't be too many Westerners in that part of Japan somebody would have seen her.

In Nikko? It's a major tourist spot, you can hardly move there for furriners.

Epilepsy doesn't sound good. A healthy person out in this heat for hours would suffer, more so if she can't move into the shade and has no water.

Hopefully she'll be found safe and well.

Not necessarily. Its Nikko. One of the most frequently traveled areas for tourists including Westerners. Also if she did anything like actually going into the mountains... I climb mountains quite often and the ones around Nikko are not for the unprepared in the slightest. Especially in the weather we've been having lately.

I hope they find her too... but if the reality is that if she went into the woods by herself around there... :/

FRENCH WOMAN MISSING

°

It is strange her passeport was found at the inn. We told them to always keep it with them at all time. Kidnapping is possible. Someone could have taken the time to bring back her passport to her room.

This way it is always seems to stop all kidnapping investigation.

NO matter what, it was very dangerous to leave the biggest cities alone.

I think you have Japan confused with another country.

I think you have Japan confused with another country.

Unfortunately, women are vulnerable to attack in every country, and this is a country where foreigners stand out in the crowd so obviously, where they can be observed and tracked unnoticed, and where visitors are often told how safe Japan is.

People should know better, given high-profile cases in the past several years, than to spread the old rumour about how Japan is so safe for women - be very careful here as you would be anywhere.

Lets wait and see eh?

However, it looks more and more suspect with every passing day that she is not found.....

Her brothers are in Nikko, asking people if they have seen her and handing out flyers. Are the police doing this. Reminds me of when Lucie Blackmon went missing, her family spent months on the streets trying to get any info on her.
