Shame, shame, shame. Tokyo 2020, nevermind, time to move on.

All under control! Yeah right.

13 ( +13 / -0 )

This is a very serious crime, and it really p1sses me off knowing the J Govt isn't acting on it. Abe should be taking this one by the horns to show to the public that he does not only care about the power plant, but also about the people, his people, who are trying to save the situation from becoming worse.

12 ( +13 / -1 )

One million yen to zip his lip and he wants to go back? Something fishy here.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

It sounds like Yakuza hiding behind business fronts. Organized criminals do things like this. It is Good that someone spoke up and let all the dirty laundry come to the light.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

Why am I not surprised?!

11 ( +11 / -0 )

I expect even less of this type of information to be publicly available, now that the new "secrecy law" has been passed. :(

17 ( +17 / -0 )

This article should be in the crime section with Tec, Token Kogyo and the broker brought up on charges. Not just a written sanction to improve business practices. Just like applying sealant to metal in the rain. It does not stick..

12 ( +12 / -0 )

These kinds of illegal activities have been known about for at least two years. If the punishment is merely a pathetic little letter ordering the culprits to "improve" their activities there is little hope of anything changing.

11 ( +11 / -0 )

TEPCO and co. never fails to disappoint me. And this kind of news is actually what Abe wants to keep secret from the public.

11 ( +11 / -0 )

Just what I was thinking Mariam. Is the law officially enacted yet and if they would have had time is this something they would have classified as a secret?

8 ( +8 / -0 )

Those tanks are prefabricated and the bolts have an automatic torque metrr. Anyone could do it. Its just bad luck

-9 ( +0 / -9 )

It doesn't really matter if these leak or not. They plan on dumping all the water into the ocean anyway. They probably planned to all along.

Being the government criminals that they are, they were likely hoping they'd stick the water "temporarily" in tanks until the public "forgot" about it, and then just dumped it all into the ocean.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

This is why we need the secrecy bill approved. illegal labor!?

2 ( +4 / -2 )

I'm amazed this made it to press! Surely this is a matter of state security, and therefore needs to be kept secret for 60 years?

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Don't you all understand ?; NOW it's OKINAWA's / or / Okinawan's fault .

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Thank you Reuters for this article.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Those tanks are prefabricated and the bolts have an automatic torque metrr. Anyone could do it. Its just bad luck

Tanks are prefabricated designed to temporarily store water, not radioactive waste for indefinite periods. Not bad luck, criminal mis-management.

abenomics in action!

This country is fracked! Man I keep having dreams about ditching this place

6 ( +6 / -0 )

It was fracked before the LDP regained power. I bet Tokyo Power knew all along and their exces got part of the money skimmed off of the workers. So of course the government will do nothing.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

When something is done illegally doesn't it require action from the authorities? Is TEPCO subject to a different interpretation of the law? How many times have we heard about illegal practices at this plant and nobody facing any kind of litigation for it? Their work practices might be illegal, but the fact nobody is being held accountable is criminal!

8 ( +8 / -0 )

Can't help but feel embarrassed, angry, and wondering when this nightmare is going to end.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

So everyone declines to comment or refuses questions, it was all illegal, and no one will be charged. What else is new?

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Well, that's a stunner!! Can they really do worse. Apparently so reading the news day after day of their bumbling attempts at this extremely serious situation.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

No Surprises with this at all, it was even reported earlier.

This whole tepco fukushima scandal is and incredible situation of layer upon layer of lies, deceit, cheating, cover ups and every other scandalous behaviour one could imagine and some that no one could have ever dreamed of.

Incredible this whole thing, but stand by as more to come that you never ever though possible.

The leaders of Japan are treating the Fuku Daichii thing like it's a leaky childrens carnival blow-up play dome. It's baffling that that this country is not taking this seriously and keeping people informed. I sure hope the young ones are taking this to heart. I wonder what Japan will look like in 30 years.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

FizzBit in 30 years time japan will look like one giant rest home and the young will be suffering cancer in records numbers. Nursing care and medical industry are going to be a boom time here so there is going to be an opportunity in those industries for those who are smart enough to get into them early.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

This is a great article, investigating a true scandal for which no one will be punished.

Many posters have linked it to the secrecy law. Perhaps only because Tepco is still a private enterprise can we still find out what is happening.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Are any of the Daiichi workers whose exposure dosage is too high to work at the NPP any longer, receiving treatment with Prussian Blue? The evacuees who sought shelter from the disaster which was in line with the radiation plume too, should have received Prussian Blue immediately. If not TEPCO and J Govt are just plain criminal on so many levels.

All tanks in the world are made for temporary storing water, maybe we could get some Concrete tanks then. Or better yet, Hastelloy high nickel tanks. well, it would cost 10 times more.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

From the second paragraph:

"among the thousands of workers from across Japan who have put together the emergency water tanks and stabilized the plant after three reactor meltdowns " Stabilized the plant??? Who knew??? Jeez...that's GOOD! So...I guess we can all breathe a little easier now that everything is stabilized and under control!

(sarcasm "off")

...wish the very worst for TEPCO and their families: a good mob should string these guys, in a moment of surprise, and walk them off the ledge at Mori Arts Building in Roppongi. It would be a perfect dream if former mayor Shintaro was swept up and the rest of the losers that bleed the country dry in the most anonymous way.

Unfortunately, those of us who grew up in Japanese society don't respond to anything and are pretty much lifeless and useless. Even if an earthquake or tsunami happened--wait, it did!!!...we're already on the verge of apocalypse and these TEPCO fellas are still walking free. Can't some pyschos just dismember them like they do in many fantasy scenario. Japanese film?!?!

0 ( +1 / -1 )

@JacksonLoThat's a pretty violent post, and actually quite aggressive.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Leaks not a deliberate "Easy Out"?

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

TEPCO has gotten away with poisoning a whole country, using Yakuza hired day laborers with no contracts to speak of. Poisoning said day laborers and sending them on their way without a care. Poisoning the outlying Prefectures again taking no responsibility. J Govt not bothering to loosen up and let flow the stock pile of Prussian Blue they have been accumulating since October of 2010. Who is taking that Prussian Blue??

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Japan truly is a yakuza economy/country.

Those who left & continue to leave after 3/11 are looking smarter by the minute!

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Those leaky tanks contain high levels of radioactive water pumped from the basements of the melted reactors. Now there was between 120 to 130 ton of fuel in each of the three reactors. I was just reading an article which explains the high levels of radioactive readings coming from some of the tanks. It maybe that the tanks some of the fuel since it is just floating around in the water.
