Fighto!
Amazing news, possibly the first time Panda twins born in a zoo? They should definitely be given Japanese names!
Just hoping China now does not get jealous and try and "claim" them.

Otsukaresamadesu, panda-chan!

Unfortunately, the twin belong to the "owner" China despite overseas birthplace and residency. They will have to be "deported" when become mature.
I dislike this rip-off program serving solely Beijing who exploits panda and public favoritism ("kawaii!" sentiment) for diplomacy. Panda is no longer an endangered species while To loan it would still cost you over millions per year and kowtow loyalty to the communist. #StopRentingPanda

Congratulations to the parents “Shin Shin” & “Ri Ri”! - Little “Xiang Xiang” now has siblings. - A truly wonderful and wholesome event for the great people of Japan to celebrate!

Good call.
Now tell that to many posting her who (when convenient) want to claim everyone/everything born inside their borders.

Strange statement to make. Couldn't resist a dig at China, not matter the topic.

Great news for the JOC and LDP.

How about 武汉 (Wuhan) and 谎言 (lies) instead?
Xiang Xiang will be "returned" to China by the end of this year due to the contract. She will then go to a re-education camp, forced to drop its name given by the Japanese (no joke) to become more Chinese panda.

Otherwise lovely, except I've just seen an image of the 'birthing room' of the Panda-mom, which is more like a 'birthing-cage' or a cell. Tiny square space, surrounded by metal bars, and nothing but hard, cold floor under her. Nothing soft, comforting or natural in the space with her. Heartbreaking to see. I really hope their actual living conditions are much, much better - but, I've been to Ueno Zoo once, and am not that hopeful...

The zoo should have announced the happy birth of just one panda, and then raised one secretly - hopefully a female.

Apparently half of all panda pregnancies produce twins, but left to her own devices the mother will concentrate on raising only one, and the unlucky abandoned twin doesn’t survive.
When twins are born in captivity the keepers switch and swap the babies several times a day so that the mother concentrates on the baby she has, and doesn’t realize she has twins.
That’s probably why they know the weight of one twin and not the other: they can weigh the second twin when they swap them around.
No doubt China will be able to give advice on raising twins.

What's the point? The babies are just going to end up as the objects of one of china's nefarious 'claims'. Japan should stop falling for this 'panda diplomacy'.

I propose the names "Uyghur" & "Taiwan" what do you think?

Charming news, a month before the Olympics! how about naming the new born OLY & PICS !?
Congrats to Big Mama, good luck to the new born, good news for Panda and lovers.

Pandas may be cute, but there's nothing cute about the way that the Chicoms use them for political purposes.
Personally, I've grown tired of seeing them (the pandas, that is).
