If this happened during the day it would be a whole different story, so lucky no one got hurt.

I'm sorry for the surrounding businesses and their employees.

Wow, that's hectic! Good to hear there were no injuries..

Surely Abenomics requires that Kuroda backs a dump truck up to this and starts pouring ichiman notes into it. ;}

Damn I was just at a hotel maybe 10-20 metres from there, checked out last Thursday & am back in FUK but hotel is on the other side of the station, nasty situation, I hope it doesn't get bigger, not good!

It's really close to the Blossom hotel. Just wow. Very glad no one was hurt.
I'm sure it will get fixed quickly.

Somebody forgot to do the ground testing.... or did it and lied about it

Usually ground holds up the ground, not columns.

Not if they are constructing a subway beneath.

Have walked through this same area several times during recent visits to Fukuoka ... and never gave thought to the idea that there might be a lot of nothing below me. Although it wasn't funny, had to laugh this morning while watching via TV the street caving in bit by bit.

Yes what about Saitama? Careful what you wish for..
Triring
It happened to a underground construction site to extend the subway at that location. It looks as if they had a cascade failure with the columns holding up the above road above.
The Fukuoka city mayor is seriously pi$$ed and is demanding blood for this mess.

SparkyS,
That's where I stayed, but cudnt get enough nights in a row to stay again so am on the other side of Hakata stn now, definitely going to mess with the Chuo side out front with a few big buildings!

The support columns used to prop up the ground were obviously insufficient! This is a clear sign of negligence as holes in the ground do not appear without reason ....
Pukey2
Was it just air underneath?
