Brilliant Bri! Brilliant!

The definition of four or more units in 2-3 hours as binge drinking in the CDC's, not mine (and apparently for men it's five or more):
https://www.insider.com/does-alcohol-weaken-the-immune-system
I also noticed they used drinks, not units. I've no idea if these are interchangeable or not because what they consider a drink is not defined in this article.

Sounds like a challenge. Plus the only way to deal with 10 am zoom meetings in the mornings is by strong zeros.

What is considered moderate?

Alcohol is used to kill this virus, it's a disinfectant! We just do it from the inside!

I predict a "Corona" baby boom. Here's the chance to reverse the decline in the Japanese population. No excuses about being overworked now!

You can define binge drinking as you want, but four units in three hours is not a binge. That's not even half a bottle of wine, which is easily consumed by two over a meal.

Cosmos1: "I suggest women to lock yourself in a safe room away from your husband if he wants to play games and enjoy a drink slowly."
Stereotype much? Many of the heavy drinkers I know here are women, and they can be just as offensive and rowdy or what have you as any man can under the same conditions. That said, the key point is not to OVERdo it, and in this nation, where you can buy alcohol anywhere, 24-7, even if you are so drunk you can barely walk, it's rather an important message (that will fall on deaf ears, sadly... like posting "don't use your smart phone while walking" on a wall that people staring at their cell phones will never see).

@aly r, it would be nice if AKB48 did there version to this song!!!

Routine. If you can't control yourself you have a problem. I drink copious amounts never once become aggressive. If someone has such a problem spending time with their own family probably shouldn't have made a family that you don't like. Constantly suprised at people's stupidity.

Today is cans & glass bottles garbage day where I live. The garbage crates were completely overflowing with empty beer cans spilling out onto the street. It was a fairly striking image.

gogogo,
Good in theory, but there are 3 supermarkets, 2 drug stores that sell alcohol, a Family Mart and two 7-11's within a 10 minute walk from my house. Oh, and the beer/Chu-hi vending machine 3 mins away.
Best they can do is "urge"

Australia placed restrictions on how much you can buy a day, perhaps Japan needs to do the same

Binge drinking (four or more units in 2-3 hours) is thought to disrupt your immune system, so now is a good time to practice moderation. Drink slowly, savour the taste, and protect your health (and wallet).

Really??
90% of men and women enjoy sipping a drink, playing a game or whatever.
What goes on around you must be different.

We are in lockdowns here in Australia. Many retailers are forced to close. Some are allowed to open but decide to close due to a lack of business. However, Liquor Shops are deemed as "essential service" like supermarkets and drug stores which are allowed to open.

Worrying about next month’s rent payment and putting food on the table?
Of course, people will drink!
