I'll be staying home for sure! Not looking forward to the rush!

Let's see how many workers get consecutive 10 days off, like Premium Friday nice idea unenforceable, loss of so much time/profit for many businesses would cripple them. It's just going to cause confusion for workers who will have no idea what to do with spare time. Employers will be asking for Employees to make up any time off for free. Wouldn't believe it had I not experienced it.

Good! Then I can finally start playing my Zelda game on the Switch.

I'm glad I'm not working in the food service anymore ! It will be a hard time for hotel and restaurant staffs, so good luck to them !
Personally, I will be either relaxing on my rocking chair beer in hand, or in the woods camping. Can't wait !

I hear you. I'd rather spend time with my family and use the time together. We can always travel when everyone else is working.

Without doubt Airlines will be bumping up their prices over this new Holiday period.

Why always same old photo from several years ago ? Is emperor so age affected ? Transparency is essential for confidence.
Long life to him after retirement for his own pleasure afterwards. Well deserved.

Great time to stay home in Tokyo. Clear skies and half empty trains all day every day fam

Doesn't Japan have one of the lowest productivity numbers in top Asian countries. Do we need more
days off.
Do the hustle
I’ll believe it when I see it. I’m quite sure there will be many companies that disregard this. However, as a school teacher, I’ll be on the sofa, playing guitar and drinking beer. There’s no point in trying to go anywhere.

@Cricky - I'll certainly be off. They are all Bank Holidays and all Financial Exchanges will close. This has been well documented as a near certainty for a while now, so anybody who did want to travel and hadn't already bought an airline ticket as UlsterBoy points out only has themselves to blame.

Hurrah!!!! Springtime in Tokyo. Banzai!

Just checked the prices for plane tickets, they are ridiculously expensive.

Why only one time? Make it yearly and enforce it. People need it. Ridiculous this whole law hoohah.

But how many overworked Japanese can afford to take 10 day vacations?

This! ^
This is nothing more than photo and propaganda ops. It's not practical. For those that do manage to get extra time off - as mentioned here, best avoid the huge rushes and congestion. Half of your time would be spent waiting to move.
Just let people take their leave when they want to, guilt-free! That'd be a nice parting gift from the Emperor. A decree rather than just limp photos and words all the time.

Maybe the same time to change the 9th part of the constitution and increase normal people’s tax to10%

Checked some right wing sites, apparently I will need to get some knee pads as the ten days are to celebrate how beholden to we are to the living God. Would love to see the ceremony but as a commoner even viewing it on tv is not on, my eyes are not worthy as a mear commoner.

I wonder how many private companies will pay their employees for this extra time off? I know my company won't.
