Yeah, it's better to start the brainwash at a young age.

Nothing like an urge to have 0 results. But as Nippon Kaigi members it's part of the manifesto to never forget, and denial of history. So an urge not such a big thing.

Good move by the government, never ever forget what NK did.
Even though the disgusting NK fawners and useful idiots want everyone to forget or deny these heinous inhuman abductions and tortured even took place.
NK will pay more than they have so far, that much is certain.

I honestly don't know what to make of this. Of course the issue must not be forgotten. But in all those years I have never seen any real efforts to have these people returned.
Perhaps if they had tried too hard they would have been returned and that would be one less thing to gripe about??
But manipulating students using anime in this way. That just doesn't sound right to me.

Sounds to me like what South Korea has done with the "comfort women" issue. Train them well at young age so no matter what, they eternally hate the other side at later age.

Why not make short documentaries with the victim's families? Animations are cartoons. Human beings are living creatures.

Ok the criminal and barbaric issue of the poor sods whisked off to the North Korean dystopian hell is indeed something that should be known. To push it on children however does seem a bit dubious when you look at how much your average Jo Tanaka knows about history in general. I'd be all about creating an easy learning and accessible comic book series that covers a basic historical timeline of world events that lead us to where we are today. Ask a high school or even a university student roughly when and why the Koreas were divided for a start if you want to check for yourself. They need at least a basic historical context to understand how we got here and they are not even at the start line.
How little most people know about there own region is actually quite disturbing. The dry and soulless history textbooks need to be addressed for a start, so in that sense comic books may help. With the right teacher ( ie someone with a bit of passion) , history can be an edge of your seat and fascinating roller coaster ride, but the way its taught here makes you really wonder if they want the kids to really learn!

A bit off-topic, but I was just thinking today watching news on possible peace talk between North and South Koreas, the US and Japan role in that-why do they make everything anime and manga-like,even in the news?
People cant understand the information without images? Same goes to any TV program, overloading the screen with neon pink subtitles though the show itself is not in a foreign language..

Weird that they wish to push such a heavy political topic onto Japan's youth but yet cannot own up to their own pasttime war atrocities that swept across their homeland and Asia ...

Not a bad idea. But how does the Japanese students see the diffference between North or South Koreans?

This is pure brainwashing against children, especially here using disputed facts

Good on Japan for never forgetting this absolute outrage, and justice will be done

Well china and BOTH Koreas do it to their children...brainwashing them at a young age to believe the US & Japan (especially) are mortal enemies. So I don't see why Japan cannot do the same. It's time for Japan to stop being so pacifist.

There were Japanese made anime about the nuclear attack of Hiroshima already so I wont feel surprise an anime about the NK abducdtions!

India uses animation to make excellent PSAs about sexual molesting of children.
