Saw the video, no mention of the nukes. I'm also left wondering how much money and effort could have been spent in countermeasures if all the attention weren't for the Olympics.

Unfortunately, there really isn't a way to prepare for an earthquake. If lucky and able to live through it then be prepared to relocate very quickly! I would advise any foreign resident to have a minimum of a 1-2 million or access to that sum, to be able to move in Japan or head to another country .....

Having money in the bank is ok, but how will you access it sans AtM, power, etc.

Keep a good emergency money cash at home.

Very grim reading, the upcoming Nankai and Tokai quakes will likely wipe out a good portion of the nation's industrial capacity, particularly the auto industry
