Graduation ceremonies scaled down in Japan due to virus

it did not look too scaled down to me.

@that_person it’s so that way the person delivering a speech doesn’t have to take their mask off to make themselves hard. Or so that way the speech isn’t severely muffled if they keep the mask on. That’s what I would imagine anyway.

Yes, they are brave heroes, so why did the regime silence them? Why did the authorities spread misinformation?

It takw WHO three months to announce pandemic. This is science, you have to accumulate sufficient knowledge to make any responsible decision, and that take time.

I don't blame China. Viruses don't acknowledge borders and it would have arrived here sooner or later.

Mine was scaled down due to the 2009 swine flu outbreak. Freaking diseases. Hope this ends soon.

My son is set to graduate from a Semmon Gakko this month and the parents have been barred from attending. I'm dissappointed because this is the last one and he was keen for me to attend.( he hasn't wanted people to come in the past) But their party and graduating trip to visit a medical needle factory has been cancelled as well.

Sad for the students to enjoy once in a life time experience.

Much better than nothing. It would also turn to be memorable one in a way ( "troubled, extraordinary moment" tend to be a popular topic, shared and recounted among former schoolmates at school reunions).

These ceremonies are so plain and boring. No gowns or hats. Ugly red and white striped wall deco. No awards or bursaries. Just accept your diloma, bow, and get out.

You took the words out of my mouth man. Not being able to graduate from kindergarten shouldn't be the end of the world for people, especially when we have a pandemic to contend with. Priorities, gesh!

Its like in safety Japan, the only thing on people's minds is how measures against the virus are inconveniencing them. Well, folks, you ain't seen anything yet. This is just getting started.

ummm.... is it just me or does this seem backwards? I doubt the speech droplets will reach the crowd. I hope the ones printing the speeches or handing them out doesn’t have the virus!

Graduation from Kindergarten.....I know folks love ceremonies here, but somehow there are times when I think they over do it!
