Wrestling the Senkakus from Japan is easier than taking candy from a baby.

There was an interesting article a few weeks ago in Reuters I think that described one of the four former Fleet Ballistic Missile Submarines in the US Navy that were converted to Guided Missile Submarines. No more Trident missiles, they carry something like 150 Tomahawk missiles in the former launchers for the Tridents. They also have facilities for Seals and/or Marines, including ways for them to deploy small boats for raids, and for deploying divers and underwater craft used by the Seals.

Of particular interest was a description of one such sub's exercise with Japanese forces and a line in the article that said one of that sub's missions was to put Marines on the Senkakus if it was suspected the Chinese were going to land their own forces there, with the idea being the Chinese wouldn't try to land if the Marines were already ashore. Left unsaid was that the US Navy must feel pretty confident it has the right ISR resources to provide adequate warning of a Chinese incursion and enough time to land Marines there.

Anything related to French in war doctrine doesn't work.

Not true. Read about Operation Serval. Then read up on the occasions Frances aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle has picked up the slack for the US Navy in the North Arabian Sea, providing combat air support to NATO forces operating in Afghanistan. Their pilots and aircraft are good. France has a force of about 7000 troops combating Al Qaeda and Daesh in North Africa. Their air force and navy have also been fighting Daesh in Syria. If anything today French forces are often tougher than the British.

Napoleon would like to disagree

Let us not forget that the US used the Sengakus as a firing range.

Respect!

"More nonsense. Someone does not know the reality in the area."

Comprehension; a highly valuable "commodity".

...luckily 2 or more of these nations don’t have nukes...

@didau.

Drinking with marines in Chalan, Okinawa, about 10% could speak basic Japanese. (Only been there a few times though and they were young.)

Because in France, the language is French. As simple as that.

True. But I travelled and worked in France. Had French partners. I was actually there when there was TV adverts every hour telling French people to speak English to tourists.

The GSDF rapid amphibious deployment brigade, dubbed "Japanese Marines" and tasked with defending remote island territories, will be among the units participating in the exercise.

and will the government give them the firepower they need. They need aircraft carriers, amphibious assault ship and much more. Most importantly, the government should dump article 9.

If and when that time comes, it is the USA that always caries the burden, during WW2 the French resistance played a major role in defeating the Nazis so I'll give them a try.

The USA was absent from fighting in WWII for the first two years. The "burden" fell to the UK, Canada, Australia, India, New Zealand and others. After Russia was forced to change sides by German treachery, and the USA joined the war the burden was spread to larger nations with greater war fighting capacity. Everyone did their part and no single nation could have done it alone. Not even the US.

With QUAD forces, and now other peace-loving nations like France and UK formally allied to Japan,

There is only one nation with a "formal alliance" with Japan and that is America. Japan has no other "formal military alliances" and will not until it is able to renounce Article 9 and guarantee its ability to provide reciprocal military aid/assistance to prospective allies.

China pissing off the entire world. A country that has learned nothing from history.

More nonsense. Someone does not know the reality in the area.

With QUAD forces, and now other peace-loving nations like France and UK formally allied to Japan, and supportive of rule of law, the Commies will NEVER set one foot on inalienable Japanese territory- the Senkaku chain.

It is important to hold down expansionism of China in this theater as a common interest of the west. Japan and other Asian nations alone cannot counter act against the vandalism of China.
