Nearly 100 members of a Japanese Ground Self-Defense unit suffered food poisoning in Higashine, Yamagata Prefecture, defense ministry officials said Friday.
Officials said the troops suffered from diarrhea and stomach aches after eating lunch on Thursday, TV Asahi reported.
All members of the unit were given a medical check-up. Six were hospitalized overnight Thursday but released on Friday morning, officials said.
A health ministry spokesperson said the cause appeared to be a bento (boxed lunch) that was delivered by a vendor from outside the facility.© Japan Today
