I started taking my allergie medicine already.

This Hay Fever is damned hard for me in Japan.

If my eyes and nose are itching, I will scratch them with my hand.

I dont give a sh...t about a Coronavirus probably infection if I scratch my eyes or nose.

The level of Hay Fever I have is more tough for me than the very very low possibility to get infected by scratching my nose or eyes.

Mask helps a lot against Hay Fever and I use much much hand sanitizer.

The tough season starts...

They really should cut down these cedar trees and export their lumber. But they should get rid of these trees.

Monty, I have a lot of friends and coworkers who take injections for their hay fever and it clears it right up. They could even function without a mask. This is of course in the BC (before corona). We must all mask up in AD (after disease) regardless.

No need to scratch at all.

Rinsing eyes and the nose with a normal saline solution works to clear the membranes of pollen particles; it is cheap too.

what Japan could do is cut down all the birch trees and replace them with neem trees.

Pakistan is trying to plant a billion of this tree now.

A 10 billion-tree plan is restoring Pakistan’s lost forests | The Japan Times

The neem trees healing properties and medicinal uses as well as uses in culinary use and in pest control makes it a multipurpose and extremely useful tree. Cut down all the birch trees and replace them with neem trees

Hey here's an idea. Let's chop down all our native forestry and replace it with European and North American cedars. What could go wrong?

Yes, how about planting trees that do not spread pollin? But that would cut in to the pharmaceutical companies profit. That's not going to happen,? So suffer in the knowledge that someone is making huge sums of money on a preventable problem

Because of the protocols in place to avoid getting COVID-19, the number of flu infections is or will be lower this season. Unfortunately, those protocols due not affect those who suffer from hayfever. They are less likely to wear their masks properly, so the number of flu infections will rise, but they should still be lower than the previous year. This will also affect the COVID-19 numbers of course!

Monday evening I was feeling and looking fresh as a daisy, then boom!, at 1:07am, I turned into rinkled Frankenstein w/ giant bags under my red itchy eyes w/ runny nose. This news story is pretty spot on. What a difference!

Drinking rooibos tea in the lead-up to hay fever season seems to help reduce the symptoms. A friend put me onto it several years ago and now I get very little hay fever except on really heavy days. Some others I talked to have had similar results. It might not work for absolutely everyone, but there's no downside in trying (no caffeine, rich in anti-oxidants).

Hay fever is a mere inconvenience compared to the effects of Covid.

Maybe so, but if the japanese government is supporting it then that's dumb because the country as a whole must lose more due to lost productivity than they gain from pharmaceutical profits.

Of course, in most countries you can pop to the drug store and pick up 3 months of antihistamines for 600yen or so, whereas here the drug store prices are crazy and even if you go to a doctor you have to pay more, pay for the doctor's fees, and usually the doctor will make you come back at least one more time. Sigh.

And there are talks of a 4th wave of 'rona!

I would rather have hayfever than COVID-19.

Hayfever coughing or sneezing will be suspected of spreading corona.
