The ministry ordered the accreditation be revoked after it came to light that 11 doctors wrongfully obtained credentials for psychiatric care.

So in effect nut-cases were treating nut-cases? Why am I not surprised?

this could just have easily read: "prescribed unnecessary drugs," or "recommended unneeded surgery."

Hospitals in Japan are run for profit, they are like hotels for old people and they milk as much cash as they can.

Doctors are just legalized drugdealers. They never find the root of the problem. "Here take this medicine, see if it helps" and send you home.

The 11 doctors, in their 30s and 40s, have been practicing medicine for the past five years, Fuji TV reported. Their accreditation was revoked by the ministry after it was discovered that they had falsified their examination reports and had admitted patients into their hospital without following protocol.

Now that is not good. Worth condemnation.

In addition, investigators have confirmed that nine attending physicians at the hospital signed off on those falsified reports, so they, too, had their accreditation revoked.

Having your accreditation revoked might be too harsh in my opinion. Yes, they failed their due diligence but revoking rather than suspension? Hard to call on this one.....

So if I understand correctly, these people were actually already real doctors, but they just hadn't satisfied any of the additional requirements in order to move into practicing psychiatry?

Why stop there? Based on the treatment I've received over the past 34 years, I doubt any of them are qualified to touch another human being.

Glad they had them revoked -- hotels -- I mean hospitals, are too easy on these kinds of things normally.

All doctors on the article have doctor’s license. So far, the ministry did not revoke their doctor’s license. They revoked the license of designated psychiatrist. Only doctors who work as a doctor for more than five years and as a psychiatrist(MD of psychiatry) for more than three years can apply for the license. They can get the license for five years in the shortest after being a doctor. The designated psychiatrist can make the patients hospitalize against their will, seclude and restrain the inpatients. The pass rates of designated psychiatrist are around 60%. St Marianna University School of Medicine is one of the easiest medical schools to enter. The students are bad at studying. I heard that the failed applicants copied the reports of their seniors or colleagues, and the staff of the ministry found the injustice. A diet member pointed out another injustice in another first-class medical school. I think this problem will spread more within a year.

The article is poorly written. The 11 Doctors are Registrars/Residents/Fellows. The examination in question is not GRADES, but the intake history that is done to decide if/when to admit a patient. The 9 Attendings/Consultants are required to sign-off on each Registrar. It is the 9 Attendings who should have been censored, not their students.
