Yeah. They’re the same old guys who get up roofs to adjust tiles in typhoons.

OnTheTrail One of the nicest snow adventures for me used to be taking the Joetsu Line from Tokyo up to Niigata prefecture when a snowy cold wave hits. You go through this long tunnel and suddenly come out at Yuzawa. Everybody on the train goes, “ WHAA..”. It’s great.

These heavy snowfalls always make me worry about the older folks. I do my best to help out clearing snow for them so they don't end up in medical distress but some of the older gents just won't take help or worse, they get up on the roof to show that they still got it and end up falling off or having a heart attack. I really feel bad for their wives.

I remember our years living in Nagano. Winter was always about deep snow. Never seen s much of it before that, and not since when we moved to a no snow place. Never removed the snow from the roof and it didn't collapse.

"I love snow ! Hope the snowfall will be blizzard conditions." Then I have a shovel with your name on it.

Its raining now but will turn to heavy snow later on. It's going to be a biggie, so expect delays or possible road closures if you are going somewhere. Don't do it if your car is not snow ready.

The photo must be from Christmas Day or earlier because it hasn't snowed since then.

People need more help of SDF soon to take snow out of roof. It seems matter of time houses collapse.

Never seen more than 3 inches of snow. Told my wife when we have a chance, i want to go to an onsen town to experience this (no shoveling).

All of this snow is making me even more glad that we aren't driving back to my wife's hometown for New Year.....

Snow is very nice if you don't need to shovel it all day!!!

There's no country like snow country.

We lived in Ohmi for a while and the snow was often heavy there. One morning I phoned my workplace in Kyoto and explained that I could not dig the car out of the snow in time. "Snow? What snow?" came the unbelieving answer.

It seems that the geography of Japan creates channels and dumping zones, Ohmi around Lake Biwa being one of them. It concentrates and comes in across here from the continent, someone explained to me.

I love snowfall but some time it is to danger for everyone who live on that places. Be careful and stay safe.

Never more than a day or two of snow here any year. Just looked outside in the darkness, though, and the car is covered in snow!

"Snow is very nice if you don't need to shovel it all day!!!" Agree all the way about that!!!!

I wonder which Prefecture/City gets the most/worst/severe snow in Japan?. Maybe either of the following:

A. Aomori City, Aomori, Japan;

B. Asahikawa, Hokkaido, Japan; or

C. Wakkanai, Hokkaido, Japan.

Nevertheless, I am sure the above three cities/towns are beautiful areas which happen to get hammered by snow.

As to snow, if someone wants to avoid it at all costs, I guess the best place to be in Japan would be anywhere in Okinawa Prefecture Japan whether it is Okinawa City, Okinawa, Japan, Naha City, Okinawa, Japan or other cities in Okinawa etc.?
