Interesting choice of words in the title. "Curious" Japanese. How does the media know they are "curious" and not supports or just fans?

Curious seems a perfect choice of words, like the feeling I had the first time I saw a lesser panda at the zoo.

Curious, as in curious about seeing a freak show? What was the word Mayor Pete used? Ah, that's right, "grotesque".

Trump, together with his wife, will be received by the emperor and Empress Masako on Monday

Hasn't Masako suffered enough in her life? She seems to be making progress recently. This will set her back years.

security was tight, with up to around 25,000 police officers, unseen during past U.S. presidential visits

That's what happens when you're the most hated "president" in history.

"I didn't recognize his face because he was too far from here

It glows bright orange from a distance. Kinda like spotting Mars in the night sky, I suppose.

Don't worry Donald, you'll get a lot more "curious" people out on the streets when you visit the UK next month.

The same kind of morbid curiosity when one observes an rta or a crime being committed.

People do be fascinated by that kinda stuff.

Japans elite are pulling out the stops for the President!

They know the stakes are high.

The iconic 634-meter Tokyo Skytree tower in the capital was lit up in blue, white and red -

It’s RED WHITE AND BLUE!

Just hundreds? That's not very many. But don't tell Trump! He'll will get real upset and start a negative twitter stream about Japan.

I was in central Tokyo yesterday and security is very high. Police officers everywhere. Might have even seen some secret police.

The Japanese Police Uniform should be updated to look cooler with more smart weapons.

"It will be wrapped with the special colors between 6:45 p.m. and midnight for three days through Tuesday."

Seems like DC Democrats in a nutshell. It’s no big deal, when “anyone” comes, the crowds the motorcade, I’m at this day I don’t care who would become visiting I wouldn’t want to go, that’s the reason why it’s so much better watching it on TV, even if it is the president. Some people enjoy lining up set everything out but want to see anyone for whatever reason, I wouldn’t waste my time.

What?

Never understood the fascination with fans/groupies flocking anywhere to get a glimpse of anyone.

How unpatriotic.

It would seem that a few people here have never been in an airport. You can't see anyone that gets off a plane until they clear customs. I don't VIPs walk to the baggage claim area to pick up their bags and clear customs. I'm sure the President didn't take the Narita Express to Tokyo and transfer to the local metro.

I suspect most of those curious people were at the airport for other reasons.

Reminds me of the time that I had a “Greet George McGovern at Midway Airport” date way back when. Good thing I didn’t jinx Donald by showing up at Haneda, eh?

100s? Mostly police and media precariously trying not to fall off their aluminam ladder.

Air Force 1 is just a 747-200 and the Airbus 380 is a lot larger as well as the 747 400 and 800 models.
