As much as I myself thought that local gov was at fault... it seems they actually did try their best, but their project wasnt deemed high priority by central gov ( even though they had floods already and the residential already existing area was marked as risky ...) mind boggles...

in addition, the residents ,even though warned multiple times, preferred the cheap land over the danger ...

when i bought my land, i requested all possible flood maps, incl the 50year projection one.... , it seems ridiculous to buy land that is dangerous...

Smart move Alex. Need to check for what's permitted in neighboring properties. But what's happening with the delays in getting people out of the flood zones should be investigated and fixed, Kaizen the problem.

Post code politics.

The location where it's pointed hazard on the map won't be covered by insurance companies, I feel sorry for the people living there but government should advice to move to safer places, if one of them deny to move will confront again disasters. I don't think that any government can't totally support or cover the move but better than stay there. My frankly opinion...

My town just spent a tidy sum building a straight yet unnecessary bridge so that people wouldn’t have to go around 2 corners. If they didn’t spend the money, they wouldn’t have got it next year. This kind of squandering of public money is still rife. That money could have been better spent elsewhere, such as Mabi.

Mabi grew to be a quiet district of about 23,000 people.

That’s quite a sizable district, a town in its own right
