This time cruise ship will be incomplete without quarantine experience.

These ships are hotbeds of contagion.
Also, the massive Diesel engines and waste disposal at sea don’t bode well for the environment either.

What could possibly go wrong.!.

And what about when these ships are overrun with Covid just after berthing? And will daily nimbers now include cruise ships again? I miss that.

Multi-day domestic cruises from Japanese ports to Japanese ports on large cruise ships such as Asuka II and Nippon Maru have continued to operate over the past two years — even during most of the domestic COVID waves.
Expanding destinations to international locations, where recent COVID cases are arguably fewer, would seemingly not increase the likelihood of passengers and destination residents experiencing greater infection.

Love to go one one of these floating cities, but I’m going to wear a mask. If people pass PCR test which are 80%+ accurate, no need. Only other problem is I don’t have any money.

After the way the J-gov handled the Diamond Princess debacle, anyone considering going on a cruise that's docking in Japan should have their head checked.

And what are the protocols if there's a cluster infection like last time? Are hospitals in the ports of calls prepared to handle a "mass casualty" scenario? Are Covid wards and beds to be released to foreigners over local residents? Do the local hospitals have enough translators to talk to patients and will the ship be given clearance to proceed to the next port of call? Just wondering out loud about the obvious that come to mind because GOJ is not known to learn much from past experience.

These ships are a floating environmental and health disaster and must be boycotted by everyone.

I think you meant to write Australia.

No I didn't. I meant Japan. And its not about docking in a country. It's about HOW the JGOV handled the situation, which was denounced by the whole world.

Being that’s exactly how china originally infected the WORLD /Japan, that’s pretty much acceptable, I suppose. Thanks again china .

Cool someone else to blame for the high case load in Japan apart from the Japanese. .
Rodney
ever been on a rush hour train in Tokyo?

I took on Viking Cruise line last year and let me tell you how they handled it. Vaccinations were required. Mask were required when indoors except for dining. We also wore badges which had locaters which told ship who were in close proximity to, We were also tested every day. We all had a great time visiting Turkey and Greece, In all of their cruises, they had only one case were someone tested positive. So cruise ships can be a good way to travel if good guidelines can be followed.

How boring ! If I had money to throw away I would give it to a deserving charity. Not throw it in the ocean. How boring to be enjoying oneself twenty-four hours a day and, to be among thousands of people enjoying themselves twent-four hours a day. Going from breakfast to the swimming pool and to the tennis court and to the gambling casino and to the cinema and to the beauty parlour and to the dance hall and to the library and to stuff one's stomach with lots and lots of food from the fifty 5 Star restaurants on board and to the etc. and to the etc. and to the etc.
Every day.............!!!

Even before the pandemic, a cruise is not what I would ever want to take. A holiday camp on the sea with thousands of others.

I went on a cruise as a kid with my family and it was fantastic. But I'd never go on one now if there were all sorts of ridiculous restrictions like masking on board or having to be vaxed, as these have proved not to work anyway.
Maybe if the world returns to some semblance of sanity, I might consider a cruise again.

No thanks. Unfortunate as it is, we know these big passenger ships are basically floating super spreader vessels. Most annoying thing is having to end your trip early because half the passengers are infected and/or not being able to get off the ship! Seen that before.....

These things are parasites. They send their passengers into tourist hotspots, producing overcrowding but without contributing to the local service sector in terms of accommodation, restaurants, bars etc. All you get is tons of people at Himeji Castle who spend almost no money in Himeji.
Cruise ships run on fuel oil, a fuel that rivals coal in terms of pollution. The emissions from them are huge.
They are all registered in tax havens, so they don't pay any tax either.

That does not sound fun, does not sound fun at all.
‘Have friends (friends adjacent) who want my wife and I to join them? On a cruise? Just NO. I don’t want to be stuck on a floating bacterial boat. Rather a beach with nice foods maybe a relaxed dope policy. You know a relaxed time. No masks, no tests, no port holes, no problems.

Who is really crazy enough to go on a cruise ship in winter after what happen to the Diamond Princess cruise ship where they locked it down for weeks?
Hercolobus
You will not get me to get on one of those things.
Hercolobus
Too much time wasted getting sea sick. I heard horror stories about food poisoning, loss of power, stormy weather. It just does not add up.

Covid19 deaths per day in Japan is worst level in whole world, many Japanese patients cannot yet even get PCR test soon freely.
Japanese authorities have no measures about many issues, prioritize only easing restriction than defending the lives. Japanese mainstream media prioritize to benefit corporation than journalism, became to do not report about domestic still problematic Covid19 situation at all such as patients cannot get even medical service and suffer from symptom at their home.
JapanJim
As long as the passengers are vaccinated and boosted there is nothing to worry about.
Danielsan
Since Japan has the highest number of daily c. ses of Covid in the world, it is the cruise ship passengers who are at risk, rather than the people of Japan as it was at the beginning of the pandemic.
