"Successfully"!
10,000 people a year would gradually wear it down to nothing! Must be coated in renewable stone and concrete.

Wow, no oxygen, ropes or crampons! Be careful not to hit your head on the torii though.

Actually, Tempozan, at 4 meters, is lower than this. Not sure why this is being called the lowest mountain in Japan.

Been reading long smithinjapan?
"Although there are lower mountains on the map such as the… …4.5-meter-high Mt Tempozan in Osaka, these peaks were artificially formed, according to the Geospatial Information Authority of Japan."

Japanese find deity in many things. During the time of Edo, Mt. Fuji had many worshippers. People who climbed Mt. Fuji brought back stones of Mt. Fuji and built their own Mt. Fuji in their community shrines and a small mountain was called "Fuj-izuka." You can find many remains of "Fuj-zuka" still today in many shrines in Tokyo. They still hold a ceremony on the last day of June preceding official opening season of Mt. Fuji on July 1. Famous ones I know in Tokyo are Ono Teruzaki Shrine in Shitaya, Taito-ku and Sengen Shrine at Shinozaki, Edogawa-ku.

JDMism: "Been reading long smithinjapan?"
Likely longer than you, but evidently not with this particular article. All the same, if there are "lower mountains on the map such as the...", then this is not the "Lowest Mountain in Japan". If they want to qualify it with "Lowest naturally formed mountain", then fine. Until then, they are incorrect. Plain and simple.
Now that you have 'encouraged' me to actually read the article in its entirety, I do like the comments made by the "climbers".

That's a low blow.

This mountain is so safe that no one has gone missing
Funny
The priest rather makes like a joke, I believe
If anything happens on that mountain it will be a national news

Why is it even called mountain? What is the definition of mountain anyway.

That's my kind of mountain climbing. Plenty of oxygen.

You've got to love anyone who climbs a mountain in a kimono. A proper one, not a yukata.
