Oh, nice. Congratulations! Just keep going with the state of emergency and all is well. It's only been a 17 months.

Kono says local gov'ts need to slow down vaccinations due to supply crunch

Shortage in supply but Olympics still goes on?

Local government do the right things to speed up vaccine so now where is the actual bottleneck?

40 ( +46 / -6 )

Mi city of 90000 has just started to take reservations for the 60-65 yo.

It was already slow

It was a good thing Japan gave millions of doses to other countries...

25 ( +32 / -7 )

Not to worry, Mr. Kono” as according to other, ‘reliable’(?) courses, they other measures will hold;

Crossing my fingers my appointment next week won't be canceled.

24 ( +28 / -4 )

The total, divided by the number of days through September, comes to 1.2 million vaccinations per day, down from the current pace of 1.5 million, Kono said.

1.2 to 1.5 million doses a day is still a pretty good pace. According to Reuters, Japan has administered over “65 million doses, enough to have vaccinated about 25.8% of the country’s population.”

Stop sending our supply to other countries.

why not do the opposite? tell the people in charge of supply to improve it so vaccinations can be done at even greater speed.

Was not supposedly the lack of doctors and nurses the thing that was limiting the distribution? this makes it obvious it was just a lie.

12 ( +14 / -2 )

If there is one thing that the government in the land of my number should know, it's the number of vaccine doses. Didn't they just give away vaccine to Taiwan?

4 ( +8 / -4 )

This is the same for some countries and those countries that preform good during the first 12 months of the Pandemic. As a result their government seem to think, it put them in a better bargaining position to save on costs . The Australia Government is the best example. Now the Australian government will have to fund their way out out of the latest lockdown which occurred due to their slow roll out and availability of vaccines. To try solve this availability a vaccine boffin has suggested to get more jabs out of a file by trying out diluting each dose with water. They say the result are very promising ????? Watch this space.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Watching NHK last night and they are talking about the surge in infected people. Especially those in their 20's. Cut to scenes of young people outside drinking and gathering in public spaces, clearing blaming them for this rise, when in fact it is the governments utter failure to secure and vaccinate all its people. Then they go on to claim young people are hesitant to get vaccinated because of false or misleading news on twitter or YouTube. No, its because you haven't provided the shots to people in a timely manner Taro Kono. He should be fired for such gross incompetency! But he will probably be the next prime minister!

9 ( +17 / -8 )

Why are posters keep saying that we shouldn’t send vaccines to other nations? We are only sending Astra while currently the population is receiving Pfizer. What we are lacking is Pfizer. The population do not want AstraZeneca. If it’s just sitting around in the freezers, the government might as well donate it to other nation who desperate need whatever type of vaccine they can get.

9 ( +21 / -12 )

Ummm...wtf!?

1 ( +6 / -5 )

Like many people, I can safely state that I have lived under some incompetent governments before, but I didn’t imagine that I might end up saying that the single most useless government I have lived under was a Japanese one.

16 ( +23 / -7 )

Oh, nice. Congratulations! Just keep going with the state of emergency and all is well. It's only been a 17 months.

Not sure what country you are living in but here in Japan daily life hasn't been affected as much as in other nations. No business shut-downs and full freedom to do what you want and travel where you want. Vaccine rollout was slow to get going but over 1M jabs a day is incredibly good. The elderly are finally getting protected in large numbers. That is why we are seeing fewer deaths and fewer seriously ill. Even with an uptick of Delta variant cases, 70% of the infected are under 50 years old which is MUCH different than earlier in the year. Statistically, the majority of people under the age of 50 will fully recover from Covid, or not even know they have it.

-5 ( +9 / -14 )

Ministers of present Suga government of Japan prioritize to defend face of PM than defending the lives of people.

They repeat sophistry to justify unreal goal that PM who wants to raise support rate declared at speech.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Vaccine rollout was slow to get going but over 1M jabs a day is incredibly good.

Until Kono orders the pace slowed due to his inability to get the required amount of vaccine. Which he just did.

7 ( +11 / -4 )

Would it not make, or have made, more sense to vaccinate the 'younger' working, socializing, going-outside generation first? Of course everyone has good ideas in hindsight i know but ..

4 ( +10 / -6 )

We know the reason why! quote from another article! Smart politicians! Lol

“But Kono said the amount was decreased by more than 60 percent after further discussions between the government and Moderna”.

4 ( +7 / -3 )

If I did my job this badly, I wouldn't have one.

19 ( +21 / -2 )

"I'm sorry, but please wait a little longer," he said

excellent work Kono…………

wait for what?

The point is to Unload all the stock of vaccines into arms before they expire.

what? They are going to save them for Christmas? No.

wait for what?

you think the virus will PAUSE, and wait till everyone is ready to start up again? No.

wait for what?

we’ve been waiting for the last 6-7 months or so, or how ever long it’s been since the vaccines to become available, to finally be getting shots out to the public in respectable numbers. And now that it’s finally rolling, you want to stall? For what?

learn some math fool, stop wasting doses and people who cancel at the last minute (and those people should be black listed and made to wait at lest 3 months to get theirs again.)

first you blame the testing and saying it “takes time.” Well we sat and waited.

Then you blame the lack of medical staff to give shots, well, somehow we managed to find enough doctors, nurses and clinics to distribute shots. all we had to do was…..GASP……ask the local governments to do it.

now you’re blaming the “lack of doses?”

how about you take a look in the mirror instead, Kono. If that’s even your real name.

The only person to blame for all of this nonsense is you. Maybe remove yourself and then Japan can finally get the job done.

4 ( +9 / -5 )

Werent they donating millions of vaccines to other nations left and right?

0 ( +4 / -4 )

A complete disaster…the exploding numbers show that. What has been done all the many months since start of that pandemic? No vaccines developed at own renowned universities, or how about buying licenses and producing it all here? Maybe that’s been partly done, I don’t know, but if, then with very low insufficient capacity as now can be seen. But the main and biggest problem is the underestimating of those viruses. If I write here something about it and write what’s necessary to do, then it’s just only censored. That far is the underestimating. So do me a favor and don’t complain now about high numbers, all the numbers of suffering and dead and still missing vaccines in sufficient supply. That is all your fault because of not listening to other opinions than your proven wrong ones.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

Guess he el t be bragging on Twitter about the crunch like he’s been bragging Japan is #1 in the world for vaccinations. And why are they giving away millions of doses to other countries?

0 ( +4 / -4 )

Can we all just accept the fact that this leadership has failed every step of the way. Started 2 month late, then it took 4 and half month to get up to speed and now being told to slow down.

What a disaster this has been.

10 ( +13 / -3 )

Hey the Olympics folks got theirs, we will have a safe and secure 2020 games... what's to complain about?

8 ( +11 / -3 )

Forgot the most important part.... The IOC and Bach got their money...

11 ( +14 / -3 )

I think Kono is aiming for the higher office and he certainly has proven that he can replace the likes of Abe and Suga

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Instead of wasting tax payers money on this farce Olympics the Government should have secured more vaccines for its citizens by now! They seem to have prioritized the Olympics rather than dealing with the corona virus infection…pathetic!

13 ( +14 / -1 )

Wobot: These vaccines are to protect against the spike protein. These can mutate but it will still be a spike protein. So the vaccine will only have to be altered a little not a new vaccine created when this occurs and this is done fairly quickly as with the annual flu.

2 ( +6 / -4 )

Why are posters keep saying that we shouldn’t send vaccines to other nations? We are only sending Astra

Because they're haters and need to bash Japan in whichever way they can.

-6 ( +4 / -10 )

What would be the point of slowing it down, when what you want is to have as many people vaccinated as possible? Is there a logical reason behind it or is it just to save face by saying "we're vaccinating people everyday."

2 ( +5 / -3 )

Now he says "Wait a little longer" WTF!!!!

3 ( +6 / -3 )

Japan has only been giving away Astra Zeneca Vaccines to other countries. It looks like the current shortage is only Pfizer ones. Appointments are still being made for Moderna.

Still, absolutely no excuse for this ridiculous mismanagement. Kono needs to be replaced.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

What are the unknowns long term side effects of the covid virus?

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

Same with the vaccine

-9 ( +1 / -10 )

@somedude Until Kono orders the pace slowed due to his inability to get the required amount of vaccine. Which he just did.

You left out the numbers. Originally planned 700-800K vaccines a day. It reached 1.5M per day. They are calculating a drop to 1.2M a day. This is still a VERY fast pace and the majority (50%+) of the elderly are fully vaccinated already with 70%+ having at least one shot. That doesn't factor in that many of the elderly will choose not to get the vaccine. The rollout began very late in Japan but they made up for lost ground.

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

looks like the current shortage is only Pfizer ones. Appointments are still being made for Moderna.

Nope, our ward has run out of both.

My daughter's company had their supply of Moderna cut as have those of several friends of my daughter and myself.

I had a Pfizer appointment July 29 but that was cancelled because the ward couldn't secure a second dose.

I called each vaccine location to get my name on any cancellation list they had, got lucky will get my first modernization today.

My wife is still on the tentative list for her appointment but has been warned that may also be cancelled.

Our Tokyo ward is not the only one as others have mentioned their ward also stopped taking appointments.

1 ( +7 / -6 )

Is it only me or the slow-down idea is the most stupid thing anyone can say?

Even if there is a shortage, why slow down?

Isn't it better to vaccinate as many people as possible as fast as you can?!

We need to innoculate more people so herd immunity will be achieved.

Slowing down is just counterproductive.

Innoculate as fast as you can, even if it means that there are no vaccines left.

7 ( +9 / -2 )

Yes, it just seems like a stupid idea. (as usual from this government). Surely you just go full steam ahead and protect as many people as you can?

serious question:

What does slowing down achieve?

It just leaves more people at risk.

Or does it have something to do with a potential vaccine immune strain developing?

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Big changes for your former stance ie, Jun 18 2:45pm in “Why are Olympics going on despite public opposition

*- “Stop the fear-mongering! First, spectator sports events are already in full motion, even in Japan. Secondly, all Olympic travelers will come fully vaccinated and tested negative.[?] Third, by the time the Olimpic games start all of the elderly people (that wish to) will be fully vaccinated.[?]*

*Fourth, the Japanese people are more at ease now that the vaccination plan started to gain momentum. [?] The polls against the games weren't only 80%, it was also 50%, depending on what the guiding questions were. now that 50% got a lot lower [?}*

*One more thing, thanks to the upcoming games, the JGov’t pulled head out of where it was stuck and started the rollout of the vaccinations a lot more efficiently.[?}*

*If not for the Olympics the rollout, probably, would have taken another year.[?]*

0 ( +2 / -2 )

No you need to buy more or NOT send vaccines to other countries not slow down!

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Japan should have made the Astra Zenica an option for those who wanted to get vaccinated in May/ June instead of waiting months later (especially people between 45-64). Many people don't want this one, but they I still think 6-8 million would have been willing to get vaccinated ahead of time with AZ, which would have added to the total now.

6 ( +8 / -2 )

Maybe it's not so bad vaccines aren't widely distributed now

Nothing in your link indicates that, vaccines still are a much better option than the natural infection so it would still be much better if they are distributed as widely as possible.

If you have something safe and effective against the pandemic problems in the delivery are not an excuse to ask people to vaccinate less, the problem is not that people are vaccinating too much, the problem is that the government did not prepare on the year it got to speed up the process and that is why it lags so much. This is what have to be corrected.

4 ( +8 / -4 )

with an additional 40 million doses already delivered to local governments and still unused.

Seems to me people are commenting without reading the article.

We should be asking why local governments are not using the 40M doses they have received and are instead making it look like they have been short circuited by the central government or are they in a race to see who accumulates the most vaccines ? it just goes to show there is no accountability and coordination with the dispensing of the vaccines, may be the consequence of still relying on the good old fax machine for the exchange of info.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

I'm glad I got my two when I could. One of the first times I felt glad to be 67.

I hear ya. 69 here. It's a great position in which to be.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Is it only me or the slow-down idea is the most stupid thing anyone can say?

Even if there is a shortage, why slow down?

Isn't it better to vaccinate as many people as possible as fast as you can?!

Multiple reasons, first is like my original situation. Due to possibly not having vaccine in time for my second does.

If the ward goes ahead with giving vaccine now as first dose and no supply is available for the second dose then we have a bigger problem, especially since their online systems are so badly designed and inflexible.

Next the problem of having vaccination centres sitting around doing nothing if no vaccine is available.

What to do then? Keep the staff there doing nothing, temporarily close, then reopen once vaccine is available.

We have what we have because of poor planning, so we really don't have many choices.

1) release the millions of doses of AZ and let people chose. And no slow down.

2) keep going at the present pace and run out of vaccine leaving many without a second dose.

3) manage what is in stock at a slower pace insuring those that get their first dose have the second dose available. While waiting for supply to catch up with demand.

-1 ( +4 / -5 )

Pretend there is a shortage and people will queue up.

2 ( +5 / -3 )

It is insane to say there is a shortage of vaccine and then not use the stockpiles of Astra Zeneca. The AZ vaccine has somehow suffered from a smear campaign that has led to people, the vast majority with no scientific basis, deciding that it is inferior, and that they would prefer not to be vaccinated than have the AZ. It's so weird how suggestible people are. Seeing governments acting on the basis of a rumour mill, when they have access to scientific advice, is just depressing.

How can being unvaccinated and exposing yourself to the huge risks of Covid, short and long term, be a better option than the risks of vaccination? And this question is not for the predictable anti-vaxxers who unfortunately don't know any better, it is for the government department of health, who should.

And supposing the government actually had a scientific basis for not administering AZ, then it is also bad faith to basically dump it on other nations as 'donations' (with strings, of course).

8 ( +8 / -0 )

So why is Japan sending millions of vaccines to other countries?

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

The total, divided by the number of days through September, comes to 1.2 million vaccinations per day, down from the current pace of 1.5 million, Kono said.

1.5 M / day guys !!!! Fantastic job ! Kono should be the PM if you ask me !

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

How about approving J&J too? Supply slows down on what we have, so let's add another possibility?

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Each file has 10 doses plus over 1/2 dose is left in each file when all 10 doses are thrown out, leaving over 1/2 dose to each file. They are not allow to use this what is left in the file with the next file with the same batch number. So every 2 files a full dose is discarded. They not allow to mix vaccine with the next file. There is 10 file to a box of vaccine and all 10 files are mark with the same batch number. The next box of 10 files have different batch number. So if the Heath authorities allow to mix the same batch number files there would be extra 100,000 doses for every 2,000,000 jabs. The problem with mixing with the same batch number and If there is a problem with a batch there will be a possibility that it will effect 20 people instead of just 1 person. I for one would use a mix file vaccine. What do you think ???

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

First, the person in charge made a wrong decision and waited for additional tests because "there were not enough Japanese in the tests". Other countries started vaccinating and we were just getting the first doses and everyone wanted them. So there was a shortage, and the government was pointing the finger not at itself and its bad management decisions, but at the evil companies that favoured other countries. When the first major wave of vaccines came in, there were problems around storage, etc. Everybody was terribly surprised, nobody expected it. But again, it was the fault of others - "why does this vaccine have to be stored at so many, many degrees and not at XY like the others?". Again, more vaccines arrived, but the first batches were still sitting in storage, only a fraction used. Suddenly there was no plan, so they hastily came up with the actual vaccination idea. All when it was already late.

Well, when we had enough vaccines, we donated them to foreign countries. Vaccines that were bought with taxpayer money were donated. The current favourite argument of the LDP and their ilk is that "it's AstraZeneca after all and nobody wants them because they make you die!!!1!1!!!one11!". Only that's not an argument, just an excuse. So we are back to the situation we were in at the beginning - we don't have enough vaccines. They should have left it up to the people to decide what to get injected with. Otherwise, the decision to buy them is an extremely poor management decision.

From the beginning you hear excuses, excuses, excuses and nothing but excuses. "It's not my fault, it's the others' fault". "The evil Pfizer favoured countries that ordered vaccines in advance. And we couldn't have known that!!!".

And boasting about the number of people vaccinated per day - but remember that we are not a developing country and how long it will take to vaccinate the entire population. That is, assuming everything goes as expected. No one here seems capable of making managerial decisions and solving things on the fly. Always waiting for Deus Ex Machina, debating, doing research,...

5 ( +5 / -0 )

No worries Mr. Kojo take your time to do it, or even better wait until a really effective vaccine is developed, it has been proven that the current vaccines do not work judging by the spike in cases in countries with high vaccination rates.

-7 ( +2 / -9 )

Until more vaccine arrives, if the government were truly serious about combating coronavirus, they could (1) distribute millions of rapid antigen tests and (2) give emergency use authorization for the prophylactic use of Ivermectin [see Carvallo et al. (2020) Study of the Efficacy and Safety of Topical Ivermectin + Iota- Carrageenan in the Prophylaxis against COVID-19 in Health Personnel. Journal of Biomedical Research and Clinical Investigation, 2(1)].

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

The incompetence continues unabaited. Isn't this the same (redacted) who was complaining about slow vaccine rollout? Yes, here's the headline from 13th May 2021 - "Japan vaccine chief blames drug approval system for slow inoculation drive"

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Well be happy they aren't handing out jabs of J&J and Astra - those appear to be seriously flawed in their design.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

@John-San

What do you think???

I think you should go to medical school before posting certain things.

The reason each vial contains slightly more than the exact amount is so no shot ends up short, the reason they cannot use that final amount is each time a needle is inserted into a vial the risk of contamination increases.

Taking a needle inserting it into one vial then sticking it into another possibility a third if the syringe isn't full after 2 residue vials one risks contaminating whole batches and people.

Would you like to be the one getting that needle that has traveled way to many places before it is inserted into your arm?

This is no different than all other vaccines and a basic medical safety procedure, a result from past errors when double dipping needles was common and people got sick or died due to it.

1 ( +5 / -4 )

No worries Mr. Kojo take your time to do it, or even better wait until a really effective vaccine is developed, it has been proven that the current vaccines do not work judging by the spike in cases in countries with high vaccination rates.

Sad that you consider the people that will die because they failed to receive a vaccine on time, it may surprise you but public health authorities usually don't consider other people lives so easily disposable and that is why nobody thinks he should "take his time".

Spike in cases with hugely reduced rates of hospitalizations and deaths? sorry but the evidence you refer to prove exactly the opposite of what you think.

1 ( +6 / -5 )

No worries Mr. Kojo take your time to do it, or even better wait until a really effective vaccine is developed, it has been proven that the current vaccines do not work judging by the spike in cases in countries with high vaccination rates.

Yes, highly vaccinated Israel has a similar number of per capita cases as Japan.

But more important than getting a more effective vaccine, they should wait to get a safer vaccine. The serious adverse reactions to these vaccines are off the charts. I can't believe they want to push them onto kids; who are more likely to be killed by a vaccine than by covid-19.

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

Yes, highly vaccinated Israel has a similar number of per capita cases as Japan.

That is still completely false, as you were corrected before, looking at the rate of positivity it is clear that Japan has much more cases than Israel, just testing a much lower number.

And no, "wait to get a safer vaccine" is not a valid argument when that means letting people die. The vaccines are much safer than the infection, so there is no sense in waiting if that still means more people would die than if they were vaccinated now.

I can't believe they want to push them onto kids; who are more likely to be killed by a vaccine than by covid-19.

You keep repeating this but when asked for proof you can never present it, that means it is a false argument and as such it can safely be ignored.

1 ( +5 / -4 )

Each file has 10 doses plus over 1/2 dose is left in each file when all 10 doses are thrown out, leaving over 1/2 dose to each file. I for one would use a mix file vaccine. What do you think ???

I came across a paper recently (Lancet?), where they found that stretching the doses (1/2 or 1/4 dose) of the vaccine (Moderna?) was quite effective. Plus, I think it might reduce the adverse reactions....

-5 ( +3 / -8 )

And the silliness continues!

Just got my first shot, go in no one waiting.

30 chairs 30 cm apart they sit me down in the furthest chair.

Next person comes in, still no one in the room but they sit her right next to me.

The vaccination room is the same everyone one next to eachother with half the seats empty on the other side of the room.

Social distance here must be about 50 cm.

No wonder cases are rising even the medical personnel have no concept of what social distance is.

1 ( +7 / -6 )

The vaccines are much safer than the infection, so there is no sense in waiting if that still means more people would die than if they were vaccinated now.

Not for young healthy people.

You keep repeating this but when asked for proof you can never present it, that means it is a false argument and as such it can safely be ignored.

I've provided lots of proof. You simply don't accept any proof that says anything you don't like.

-7 ( +2 / -9 )

Not for young healthy people.

Again your personal opinion based on no data whatsoever is not a valid argument. Yes, even for young healthy people COVID represents a much higher risk of complications and death.

I've provided lots of proof. You simply don't accept any proof that says anything you don't like.

Not at all, and this is as simple to see as you are unable to do it also here.

You could simply prove it by linking to any kind of information where any population of children dies more because of the vaccines than because of the infection, you have never done so.

4 ( +7 / -3 )

Antiquesaving; It is a medical profession who will be given you the jab. All have be train to the highest standard and are constantly updated in new processor. Common sense will tell you that they would not doulble dip has you put it . They would give you 2 jab for that one dose. There are people who are very worried in Japan about getting COVID and if ask and told about the use of 2 jab to cover your 1st dose would more than likely take up the offer instead of waiting until October for their 1st dose. What century are you living in were a nurse would use a needle more than once. Even on the needle wrapping it say single use only.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

I would have been very happy with the AZ jab. And we all know that Doc is not a Doc so his opinion is invalid as mine is

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Except when somebody ask you to prove it, from that moment it stops being it.

You keep trying to make it as if mainstream media was the one saying things on their own, ignore it completely the experts in science…

Actually I have said no such thing. The mainstream media does not say anything in their own. They are simply parrots.

As for “proving it”, the onus is not on me. It is on these “experts” that keep tripping up on their self proclaimed scientific prowess.

My point is that these days the “scientific experts” are highly selective, with all other expert opinions suppressed .

I don’t pin anything on one person. I only recognize a stooge when I see one. And I don’t need to heed a stooge regardless of his self delusion.

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

Same as me @Hatsufred - Would have quite happily taken AZ if they were using it here. Most of the people I know in UK who have been vaccinated had AZ. They are still all walking about, just fine.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

@John-San

Each file has 10 doses plus over 1/2 dose is left in each file when all 10 doses are thrown out, leaving over 1/2 dose to each file...

FYI - The word is "vial", just so you know.

Actually I have said no such thing. The mainstream media does not say anything in their own. They are simply parrots.

So why complain about what they say in the first place? the scientific community of the world is the one that vouch for the safety and efficacy of the vaccines, and their very important role in decreasing the dangers from the pandemic, since they have the data to prove it, what is then wrong with repeating these completely valid professional opinions?

You made accusations that you can never prove, for example there is absolutely nothing wrong with being selective and discarding personal opinions that can't be supported by any data from the scientific discussions, having proof is the minimum requisite to be included on them, so how come you can never reference that data? if you think scientists have valid opinions (by definition supported by data) how come neither you or them can produce it?

If the person you mention is simply repeating the same thing every recognized institution of science or medicine in the world, why mention him in the first place? that is a terribly obvious attempt to mischaracterize the opinion of the scientific community as if it came from one single person, it is not. You could ignore completely what any of them say in particular and you would still be proved wrong by the rest.

Same as me @Hatsufred - Would have quite happily taken AZ if they were using it here. Most of the people I know in UK who have been vaccinated had AZ. They are still all walking about, just fine.

In terms of safety and efficacy the AstraZeneca vaccine is still an excellent vaccine, the problem in Japan is not about this vaccine in particular but irrational practices entrenched in the government, that still consider safer (in a political sense) to reject something, even if that means an extra 1000 people will die, instead of approving it and be accused when one person dies because of it.

Goes without saying the overall rollout has been a joke and I'm livid about it. Still waiting for my jab, although finally have an appointment.

BUT I don't get the complaints about giving away AZ. Almost no one would take it here given the private system meaning you can shop around for the more effective options. I for sure wouldn't, even if it meant getting jabbed a couple weeks sooner.

Due to your incompetence, Kono. I swear if you worked at a private company, you would be fired for this level of stupidity.

Absolutely incorrect.

The scientific community does not exist to vouch for anything . A true scientific community accepts and debates all evidence, and is allowed to freely present all findings. That’s the current problem.

It is a twisted misrepresentation when spokesmen fueled by Big Pharma financial incentives and government subservience is labeled as “science” and medical expertise.

I really don’t need to debate with such myopic opinion. I simply have to wait and witness a collapsing narrative and the desperate measures undertaken to preserve it.

I strongly support the full approval of these vaccines ASAP. Because the EUA protection from liability is then lifted. And the litigations can commence, and send these racketeers back to where they belong.

It will be interesting to see how they will defend themselves in a normal arena. Before they swindle the weak minded into thinking the common cold is a Novell Variant.

Sure, just 70M from Pfizer. But we also have Moderna. Japan only needs a total of 140M vaccines.

We gave out 40M already, and 40M still in storage. That's a total of 150M until September.

I don't see where the supply shortage is coming from. Or else, the government can't cope up with the delivery of the vaccines, then it's the government bottleneck again. This government is the problem.

Perhaps if there were more drive through vaccination centers here things would be kosher.

This is a national scandal. It is negligence. It is unacceptable. This morning I was listening to a report on patients who recover after being hospitalised from Covid. Over half of them have permanent organ damage - lungs, kidneys, liver, heart. Over half. So not dying from Covid doesn’t mean the patient is tickety boo, it is not like flu. Vaccination protects you from getting so ill you need hospitalisation, Japan is setting itself up for a significant number of patients with chronic health condition.

The scientific community does not exist to vouch for anything .

Who said this was the reason for their existence? They do, that is the important thing, science is the best way to find out what is real, and the conclusions reached by this process are the most likely to be true compared with anything else, specially about fantasy based conspiracies without proof.

Accepting evidence is fine, accepting random opinions without any evidence as you do is a completely different thing. Again, neither you (nor your sources) have provided evidence necessary to enter the scientific discussion, only vague theories that contradict the available evidence. Those can be discarded without problem because without evidence there is no value in them.

And sorry but keeping with the misrepresentation is not going to make any of your arguments more valid, the "big pharma" excuse is terribly insufficient to prove a conspiracy that would need doctors and scientists to let their own family and friends get complications or even die without supposedly effective drugs. Much less every single one respected institution of science and medicine in the whole world. Nobody (rational) can believe this could be true, except maybe the kind of people that could actually sacrifice their families for money and consider this something normal that thousands and thousands of doctors and scientists would do.

I really don’t need to debate with such myopic opinion. I simply have to wait and witness a collapsing narrative and the desperate measures undertaken to preserve it.

This is the usual escape from people that can't provide evidence, crystal ball arguments "you will see in the future", it was the same as when people predicted vaccines offering no protection, or causing deaths on the millions on the first weeks, or countries reaching herd immunity since last year.

I strongly support the full approval of these vaccines ASAP. Because the EUA protection from liability is then lifted.

Companies still have liability, why else would they be still required to provide samples of each lot for governmental testing of safety and efficacy? how else could vaccines could be stopped from being distributed at every hint of a problem. Also do you think all other vaccines being in use right now are also in EUA?

Before they swindle the weak minded into thinking the common cold is a Novell Variant.

This is another mistaken nothing disproved by the scientific community, variants are dangerous specially to unvaccinated people, how many of the current deaths from COVID in the US do you think unvaccinated people represent?

J-gov logic - send out millions of vaccines to other countries even though the j-population has yet to be fully vaccinated before the Olympics, where the risk of a spread is possible, then ask the regional govs to slow down the vaccinations because of a shortage of vaccines. You can't make this stuff up

Virusrex: Your a bit of the mark with why the Japan government went with pfizer. The reason is Time and Olympics. 21 day to fully vaccine a citizen compared to AZ 90 day. I would not be surprise that the IOC pressed the Japan Government to go with Pfizer. I even go as far to assume that the IOC had something to do with the speed of which Japan obtain the Pfizer vaccine. The reason why Japan are donating AZ to other country is the same reason why all the other country are offloading AC. Used by date. I love to think it was a good well gesture by these countries but I really assume it is the used by date.

We are not talking about all other vaccines (which I generally advocate). So try an stay focused if you can on the subject at hand. I can see you are still learning about the EUA status.

COVID-19 vaccine liability limits under the PREP Act

The situation is very different for emergency vaccines, such as the COVID-19 vaccines. The Public Readiness and Emergency Preparedness Act (PREP) allows the secretary to issue a statement limiting liability for a product during an emergency. The Secretary issued such a declaration for Covid-19 products and vaccines.

The statement completely isolates “manufacturers, distributors, program planners, and qualified persons, and their officials, agents, and employees, and the United States” from liability for harms or deaths from COVID-19 vaccines until October 1, 2024. In other words, you cannot sue these manufacturers at all.

If that were the case J&J would have been even better, but this vaccine is not even approved. For the officials any kind of hint of a problem becomes justification to reject or postpone approval, even if that means more people dead. Approval without meaningless local trials would have sped up vaccination a lot more but that was not done because of the same invalid reasons.

I love to think it was a good well gesture by these countries but I really assume it is the used by date.

Politics is always involved but it is a very good thing to do considering Japan is not going to use the vaccine (because of invalid reasons). It would have been better if this was done by all countries and towards those in greater need, it may have prevented the appearance of the Delta variant with a little bit of luck.

We are not talking about all other vaccines (which I generally advocate). So try an stay focused if you can on the subject at hand. I can see you are still learning about the EUA status.

You have repeatedly said that vaccines are not safe nor necessary for COVID, which is false according to the scientific community that directly contradicts this opinion, this is a very pertinent example (specially in this article) of how you keep repeating things that can be proved wrong easily without ever producing evidence of what you believe.

Your reference does nothing to prove that COVID vaccines are free from all the forms of liability I mentioned (and others) nor that all other vaccines not in EUA can be freely sued as you implied. Your mistake is thinking (or misrepresenting) lawsuits from particulars as if that was the whole universe of liability and the only negative consequence a company could have. They are not, additionally this works beautifully towars claimants as well, because it nullifies the usual requirement of proving the vaccine is the only possible reason for the damage the vaccinated person suffered (something that is impossible most of the time) and instead it shifts into proving the vaccine could be the cause. Something much more easier to do, since not even a causal mechanism is necessary, claimants just have to prove it is not impossible for the vaccine to be the cause.

This of course is basic knowledge for anybody actually interested in vaccine compensation, instead of just misleading others with incomplete information.

Well be happy they aren't handing out jabs of J&J and Astra - those appear to be seriously flawed in their design.

They all are.

I think it is the local governments again. Some are going fast, while some are really slow.

You really are misinformed. That’s fine.

Any proof of this? how come doctors and scientists of the world have the opposite opinion.

You really are misinformed. That’s fine

Then how about the several examples I already provided? you have still not brought proof companies are protected against everything else apart from one single kind.
