Many Gen IV systems actually use and eliminate this "spent fuel". It is high time the government invested in that, instead of leaving it to the likes of Gates.

Understatement warning. Opening of the reprocessing plant at Rokkasho has been postponed well over 20 times since start of work in 1993.

Gen IV reactors are not commercially available and will take 20-30 before one can be constructed in Japan.
