Born with a silver spoon and every advantage but I’ve never doubted his sincerity. If we have to keep imperials and royals let them be like this.

Nice picture, bonsai and background for the pair photograph; then back to the ol' pegboard for the family shot!

He also said he was worried about the discrimination suffered by those who had been sick or worked in the medical field, a phenomenon widespread in conformist Japan

So happy he spoke about this. Elected officials need to be doing the same.

My OCD really wishes that bonsai was positioned between them rather than over his right shoulder.

The pegboard looks dire.

The bigger anticipation in Japan had turned to whether Masako would appear. She has tended to be reclusive, suffering what has been described as a stress-related condition, but has appeared in more public events in recent years.

It's 30 years of constant criticism of her... Just give it a rest.

Could make himself immortal be really going out and do something, and pls don’t tell me , he can’t and is a virtual prisoner of the protocol. If he really wants. He can.

Good for Naruhito-san. Good that he spoke up for those discriminated against in Japan for having the virus. Its a shame he cant criticize the government for doing almost zero testing for covid the past 9 months.

Nice to see the royal family has an Akabeko (red cow) from Fukushima on their coffee table.

His speech would have been better if he had expressed thanks to other essential workers such as garbage collectors and cleaners.

I agree talk is cheap but hopefully his message will get doctor to help rather than duck

The nurses need more money and holidays as their stress levels are way up

Asymmetry is preferred in Japan.

It is not his fault he was born into this family. He did not choose his parents. Will anyone on this forum, or anyone you know, disenfranchise himself or herself if born into such privilege? The important thing is how does he help his fellow countrymen by his actions over time.

At least he said something. If he said nothing, he would be lambasted for that.

Agreed totally. They should at least be getting what I received when I was in a high risk area, and that is called "danger pay".
