We cancelled our trip to Sapporo.

It was a hard call. We are in Aichi,

Sucks when you see so many mates of camping and not really caring.

Going to be a long week

Mixed messages here from the authorities. In the short term so as to control the upswing I agree with the governors. Longer term tourism can help but it needs to be properly managed, and people need to take personal responsibility to ensure social distancing, avoid crowded transport and places. Be inventive, go where others don’t.

It make me wonder what's going to happen to the train services, when you see a drop of 79% will they start to suspend or cancel some services? I can't see it being profitable when only a hand full of people are on the train.

The local hot spring is only 2 minutes' walk from the JR station -- with such easy access for travelers from urban areas, I am debating whether to cancel my weekly bath...

Im going from Tokyo to Aomori this weekend there was no infection there yet so I feel safe not wearing mask.

The people of Aomori will take a very dim view of a traveller from Tokyo without a mask.

3...Does that mean Aomori-hito are all wearing masks or not?

Japan's summer holiday season started quietly on Saturday, with no congestion at stations and airports

That photograph seems quite contrary to the above statement.

Once u or stranger around u receive even 5% of virus, it doesn't go away completely. 0.01% stays and comes back stronger in the winter and attacks u and the surroundings.

If u are travelling, the virus is also travelling with or around u.

I had plans to travel to HK/Cebu and was to leave in 15 minutes today.

I was excited to see HK for the first time. I have just been through a serious breakup and was so looking forward to rewarding myself with first travel experience in six years alone. From HK I was off to Cebu and that got scrubbed too. I will try to fill my days with walks and getting to the beach in a secluded area. I guess off to Nafco or Mr. Max for a beach chair, cooler, and beach towel. Anybody recommend any good kindle reads or books? James Patterson Ali Cross I just wrapped up. Very good book.

Long drive across Japan today. No way I'm staying cooped up for a whole week off.

Went to Shinjuku today to do some shopping. It wasn't very busy. Tried to find some running shoes in my size (30cms) at Sakazen, but selection was limited.

A 39-year-old woman from Fujisawa, Kanagawa Prefecture, was waiting for a flight to Germany to meet her fiance.

If she's Japanese and not a resident of Germany, she'll be in for a nasty surprise on the other end. And she can thank her own government for that.

Escaping the burbs and relaxing in the mtns. The camp isn't full and there's ample space plus the folks are practicing safe habits. In the words of Pink Floyd, "Breathe, breathe in the air... "

Avoid Travelling and Stay Home.

Replace "Go To" with "Stay Home"!

Came to Hokkaido this Thursday.

Major attractions full of people... Especially aoi Ike and others.

Most of Gaijins not wearing masks.

While I do wear mine, its the same one, non-reusable one that I have been wearing the past 3 days.

Nobody notices so it's fine! XD

I'll be wearing it tomorrow too.

Mixed and inconsistent messages from the j-gov and media are confusing people!!

It didn’t start quietly down here in our surfing town of Miyazaki!

after the last 4 day weekend the numbers rose from 17 to over 200 this week and Now there are hundreds of out of town cars and probably hundreds more from flights besieging our town. WTF?

I guess when there are no rules common sense goes out the window!

This is oh so Wrong!

Judging by the number of Tokyo number plates I’ve seen here in Chiba, this request is falling on deaf ears

6 ( +6 / -0 )

So 3% of the number last year travelled internationally? Lucky they are not foreigners with permanent residence otherwise they wouldn’t be allowed back

Shhh....don't mention 3 days straight of over 1,400 officially reported cases.

You do realize that Japan's infection count is now MUCH higher than counts in France, Germany, UK, and elsewhere, where governments are locking down cities. It is the death rate in Japan that has remained low so far, BUT that could change in days if (when) the virus gets into the many elderly care homes here.

OARS, I think Abe looks seriously ill (not CV-19) and he is obviously MIA regarding policies about infection figures here.

Yes, an interesting picture. Are those fairy wings? Look at it again, it is worth a smile in these very stressful times!
