Kono says gov't will shoulder all costs associated with coronavirus vaccinations

Don't care what it costs, I'm getting this damn vaccine. If it ever becomes available in Japan that is. Time to get back to normalcy.

Get real. They aren't covering a single yen. All money will be taken from the inevitable tax jumps in that are coming. There's no way they are shrinking their embezzlement funds.

You couldn't pay me to be a lab rat and take that experimental chemical cocktail.

Of course you can always choose to be a lab rat in the control group, the group risking getting infected with the virus without protection of the experimental chemical cocktail

I was told it will cost up to 4,000jpy in ( administration ) fees to get the shot, now is that just another way to make you pay for the shot with a typical FANCY Name Twist, Japan Style?

That would completely defeat the purpose of making the vaccine free in order to promote its use, for the government it is much more valuable to get a vaccinated population than collect those fees.

And who shoulders the liability if there are serious side effects: government or the manufacturing company?

That depends of what kind of liability, if for example the company is found to deliver a faulty product, cheated on the safety trials or lied on to get approval then 100% of that is going to be covered by the company. The government actually tests every lot of vaccine used for humans precisely because of this reason.

If it's a government, then who truly holds the power? Why would a government want to protect a company? You couldn't pay me to be a lab rat and take that experimental chemical cocktail.

If a safe and effective health measure can be blocked by lawsuits (even if the particulars lose every single one) then the government has to evaluate clearly what is more beneficial for that country and its economy.

If investing a few millions to compensate anybody that apply for problems (that may or may not be related to the vaccine) but it means gaining billions because of the recovery of the economy then it is still a winning proposition. The people get compensation without having to prove the vaccine was the reason for the problems (something that lots of times is impossible) and the population gets a safe vaccine, everybody wins.

We'll pay for it one way or another. And we won't be getting it anytime soon. 2 months from now (or maybe less) we'll be reading in the news about delays in shipments to Japan. Pfizer is already behind on its commitments to other countries, and Japan is way behind in the cue. Approval of other vaccines is far away in the pipeline. AstraZeneca has finished their clinical trials, but they have not even applied for approval yet. Moderna won't come online till May at the very earliest. It will be 2022 at least before under 65s get their shot, right about time the tax bill for all of this is due.

How about telling us the true number of the vaccines that Japan will be receiving and when and stop telling us stupid numbers that Japan has secured.
