The security problem that China poses for Japan is future rather than present, potential rather than actual. The idea is to avoid dangerous misunderstandings. The more each country knows about the military activities and strategy of the other, the less chance for miscalculation that could lead to conflict over, for example, disputed territories off China's coast.

It is stupid to avoid conflict with China, because in a long term China will get stronger and stronger until the USA can never be a concern of China. Today, China want to avoid conflict is because China can't confront the USA.

You know, peace talks have been happening for about as long as wars have been breaking out. Neither one helps or prevents the other from happening.

He would then propose that China and Japan seek to settle the issue through mutual dialogue over time. None of this would be included in a joint statement or any other documents officially released after the summit meeting.

What does this mean to you? It means Abe has made another horrible concession to that monster across the sea. It's only a matter of time before China owns and controls the Senkakus...then Okinawa...then the principal islands of Japan. You were warned not to make this concession. U.S. or Japan do not want to be in a position where by following Chinese instructions you are giving tacit acknowledgement of their sovereignty over a disputed area. However, you can’t have Chinese and Japanese armed jets over the Senkaku/Daioyu Islands at the same time. If you do have them out there, what are the rules of engagement? What do you tell them to do? If a Chinese or Japanese jet got shot down, what would China gain from this? It would have a propaganda victory of claiming to be a victim. And there is a fear that is precisely the game that is being played, it seems no accident that the disputed Senkaku/Diaoyu islands are now in the heart of overlapping zones. There might have more risk of encounters with Chinese aircraft in the area, and need to establish a system to avoid unnecessary incidents. U.S. will deploy new long-range surveillance drones to Senkaku/Diaoyu islands which is creating tensions in China goverment. The recent defense alliance between U.S. and Japan to expand military cooperation didn't sit too well for China. The Chinese move is more of a counter move to this military cooperation. Japan is changing and so is China. U.S. will continue to cooperate with Japan's expanded roles and responsibilities.
