So the robot can call it as it sees it.

But teachers and administrators can also see,

but what do they do?

No matter what this robot reports, you're still at square one.

Without action taken, it means f. a.

This is happening right now! How is it a solution? Staff, teachers, parents, everyone, sees it, but has not the wit to understand what they are witnessing, or are unwilling to admit its happening, thus not their problem!

And herein lies the true problem...

How about the staff and teachers using their eyes?

They should use this throughout Japanese society, especially also at companies, governmental institutions and sports related institutions

and thereby removing all responsibility on the people whose job it is to look out for the welfare of the students. A.I. is only as good as the people creating it, and if the people creating it are so clueless to recognize the signs of bullying, what do the expect from A.I.?

CS - Common Sense - observation, thinking, decision making, communication and action - could also be useful, instead of putting the decision on to an inflexible, complex algorithm-based entity known as AI.

And unless the AI is equipped with a disciplining tool of some kind, all it will do is 'Report to the Teacher!'

Who must then do something....maybe...

How can we protest? This is NOT a good development. Teachers should learn to pickup these signs, not rely on A.i. This is just to swift blame from teacher to a.i. if something happens. Im sickened by this development in Japan of everything needing to be machines and a.i. BAH!

So let me get this straight, you’re going to imput past bullying that was observed or reported from human to human, account for gender, timiming of bullying and have many were involved, then the AI will do its magic?

I wonder how much this “great” idea will cost?? Lord only knows!!

Total poppycock

How about just opening your eyes? It's right in front of you if you care to see it.

How about actually talking to the children? Wait no, this is Japan where robots and AI are preferable to actual human to human interaction

Add "A.I." to the list of fetishized words in Japan like "premium" and "communication".

I can see the next headlines:

‘AI fails to predict bullying in schools.’

Since then, the city's education board has required each school to report bullying cases within 24 hours.

Another knee-jerk reaction and "requirement". BTW Why wait 24 hours?

AI: Advanced Intelligence, is only as advanced as the people who program it, and attempting to use a computer to identify a problem that is directly related to inter-personal communication and relationships is in my humble opinion, a freaking waste of time and money!

The powers that be in this case are using "AI" as the scapegoat for their own inabilities!

Tragicomedy

Bertie: Too right.

How about just using the tools we already have? Observation. Communication. Teachers need to spend less time on writing reports and more on actually communicating with children.
