Makes no sense whatsoever.

When is the need for pre departure testing going to end. Please tell us?

13 ( +15 / -2 )

How about doing the same and allowing people into the country as well. The Japanese people going overseas are going to come back so there should be no difference between Japanese and non Japanese entering the country?

12 ( +14 / -2 )

I'm just waiting for this pre departure testing and returning quarantine to end completely. This is just stressful.

is no longer requesting that residents in Japan refrain from nonessential trips to those nations.

what about non sensical decisions being made in the government and companies? Are those still happening?

it’s not the GOING to other countries that’s the problem here, it’s the getting into this country and the endless paper work and “unnecessary” wait times that’s holding people from traveling in and out of japan.

As long as it's necessary to get a negative PCR test before returning to Japan, it makes no sense to travel anywhere. If you test positive for corona in another country it can take up to 90 days for all the dead corona cells to leave your body which is necessary for a PCR test to be negative, even though you will be unlikely to be contagious after about 6 days and all your symptoms cleared up in 10.

(I've just learned this the hard way)

Cases in the UK are apparently surging, yet they’re at level 1 (safe as houses). Meanwhile, Australia is pegged at level 2 (one notch shy of panic stations, the sky is falling level 3); yet those from the sunburnt country are one of the select few to whom have recently been extended the privilege of being allowed back on condition it’s under a chaperone. Just don’t mention that Oz is currently being hammered by the flu season from hell and its vaccinated to the max population is regularly seeing a daily body count of 50 or more.

This was just an advisory, nothing more. Nothing related to border entry into those countries.

However, this should be reciprocal in a way, allowing travelers to freely come to Japan

3 ( +7 / -4 )

It would be nice if it was reciprocated, the Japanese tourism industry is virtual dead ! Look at all the closed shops around …

Japan citizens have priority. Same as any other country doing with their own citizens. Secondly Japan is a sovereign country with own laws.

Always a Japanophile apologist for Japan inexcusable behavior. There is no excuse for the 3rd largest economy to behave in this manner regarding global travel.

Keep moving forward! This Covid hysteria has got to end for Japan like it has already ended in Australia Europe and most other western countries!

2 ( +11 / -9 )

To my understanding this opening is for tour agencies tourism travel meaning you have to go as part of a tour group and stay together at all times and return to your country at the same time. No individual tourist travel to Japan yet perhaps in a few from now .... Hope I'm wrong but that's the information I received from Japanese Embassy ....

So, nothing has really changed then.

The hoop jumping is still in place.....

That what I can’t understand France ? That where the guy pock is prominent in the guy community.

The world has been too patient with Japan. It’s time to reciprocate the ban on visa waivers.

No idea why foreign governments tolerate this racist and unilateral policy.

-1 ( +6 / -7 )

Makes no sense. People will still GO abroad if they want to no matter what level it may be. Totally useless advisory.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

It's just an advisory from the J Govt to people who live here. Other countries issue all the time.

In no way does the prevent you from doing anything or require reprocicity in any way shape or form.

The US and UK constantly update their advisories. Japan has been on and off their lists during the Pandemic.

Nothing had changed in the travel rules for residents / citizens. Returning from Yellow and Blue countries is relatively hassle free, in the case of Yellow countries if you are vaccinated.

Lighten up everybody.

I need to get out of here!

the handling of COVID 19 here makes no sense! The Govt is to wishy washy!

make a plan and stick with it!

Just the facts …..

And just exactly what does "stay fully alert" mean. Obviously does not apply to the Japanese Govt, as they have been slumber mode for the past 12 months.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

lol. How convenient. Now that the yen is crushingly weak in terms of spending power in most overseas venues...

"Stay Home" is still in effect, just now in the tourism industry...

-4 ( +4 / -8 )

again halfway measures.as usual.

another good reason to skip any travel abroad this whole year.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

Good new for the tourism industry until a monkey pox pandemic begins.

Many people here just complain on Japantoday without any consideration. People don't even check to immigration site were everything about entering Japan is described.
