Simulate? How about doing the real thing?

And there’s that word again; “considering”

meanwhile my friend in seoul says he gets tested every time he walks out of his apartment bldg

Who is responsible for this jumbled lack of response in Japan?
The Japanese people are being let down big time!
that person
It would be rainbows and butterflies if the test also induced confidence in the people.... but seeing as the results are inaccurate, we’ll, there you have it. I’d love to be tested though.
Wouldn’t there be some privacy issues or something to work through first?

They are sleeping in the y bed they’ve made.

That the RoK has had a far more advanced response to this than Japan must really burn a lot of Japanese people. Stop hating and start emulating, Japan.
Yubaru
Why do these authorities have to make everything so difficult? These antigen tests can be done with a pin-p.r.ic.k. and results back in 15 minutes.
Yubaru
Pin-P r i c k is not improper language by the way!

Finally!!!
Doing what should have been done two months ago!!!

Slowly, slowly, but good This test is necessary.

I Love How Japan Is Handling this Pandemic!, Not to say they are wrong, But how unbelievably SLOW.
Here are some examples of my favorite words I read daily.
Evaluating,
Testing,
Monitoring,
Considering,
Looking At,
Eyeing,
Consulting,
And then my favorite " Waiting to see"

You forgot "urging" and more "urging", "seeking to....", "discussing".... and many more.
In short: waffling about anything and everything and "do shiyo" - not knowing what to do..

@Mark
There’s one you might also add
‘urging’

Ever tried to do a simple task at the city hall or report a found wallet? A country with a minister of cybercrime who can’t use a computer...
Japan was warned about COVID19 in January. Now sometime in May they will consider testing. Only problem is that now, THERE ARE NO HOSPITAL BEDS!
David Michael Lockard
Get safe free testing sites operational. Thank you.
Yubaru
The WORLD was warned about COVID19 in January, actually before that and with few exceptions, no country took it seriously from that point.
Oh there are plenty of hospital beds, just not one's that are capable of handling quarantine patients. There are literally thousands of small to medium sized hospitals throughout the country that could be used for asymptomatic or mild cases, but the government does not want to go that route, as it puts even more medical workers in the line of fire. Hence using hotels and other facilities, and they are actually cheaper to use than the hospitals.

The Scunthorpe problem.

No, that would be for the antibody test. That is another test that should be widespread. For every confirmed case, there are likely 50 to 100 people who were infected and didn't even know it, and are now immune to it.
fillmore2
one of these high ranking politicians needs to get infected and we will see them going 100 miles a hour.
before that we will continue to have those useless Japanese meetings after another,
after the cruise ship debacle, Olympic dreams, wonderful government masks, I am wondering what's next,
maybe government issue clean room suit and gloves maybe,
or government issue toilet papers,
or government issue hand sanitizers made with cheap sake,,,,,

Japan EYES doing a lot without actually doing or implementing very much.
Do the hustle
Today’s news is full of contradictions and pipe dreams. Abe is talking about when he can lift the state of emergency. Tourist hot spots are voicing concern over crowds of people gathering. And here, they are talking about introducing an inaccurate testing system. Does anybody actually know what they are doing? There seems to be no coordination or consistency in anything to do with the virus outbreak.
N.M.
Numerous companies around the world have already developed and made available such tests. If Japan could let their misplaced pride aside, and just accept that the tests don't have to be manufactured in Japan, they could start to save lives.
The more time is wasted, the more people are going to be infected, the more deaths there will be, and the longer the "lockdown-not-lockdown" is going to last.

I can bet, most don't know.

"considering" is "haragengo" (腹言語) for "we don't want to pay the licensing fees to American or European pharmaceutical companies for their test kits. I remember when AIDS was raging around the world and Japan would not use American technology to test blood for transfusions. Eventually, dozens of Japanese hemophilia suffers died from AIDS and the doctor responsible (Dr. Abe) for blocking the US testing kits was sentenced to jail but he was too old (in his 80's) so they just let him off. Same situation happening again with the corona virus testing kits -- Japan never changes since the populous are obedient sheep...
Tom Doley
So what? It's not as if this will help Japan increase testing anyway. This is nothing more than feel good propaganda.

I read complaints about the testing in Japan. To those of you who think testing in Japan is insufficient or too slow, be thankful you aren't relying on Trump to get your test kits made.
drlucifer
Uzbekistan, UAE to name a few are testing more than Japan.
Japan is more concerned with saving the ship that is the medical system rather than the passengers "populace"
Doug Maduro
And will this be just as limited as the other testing, I mean, the other lack of testing.
justasking
I LOL'ed at the simulation thing.

South Korea had mass testing early on - that's how they're getting through this in good shape
Japan had more weeks to prepare than other countries - what's their excuse for not having mass testing ready given with more time to prepare
