Though It's a compromise to the orignal plan of establishing female branches within the imperial house, I think it would still be acceptable so long as married women can engage in public duties in royal capacity.

Who wants their taxes being used to provide financial support to more members of the imperial family? Not me.

This is bad. It looks like a step toward legalizing matrilineal emperors, breaking centuries old tradition.

And if you want to know why Princess Mako/the Imperial Royal Household have been delaying their wedding . . . . . . this is most probably why.

Has there, at times, been insinuations that the imperials are or should be separate from the government politics ? This article just shows how the two are interwoven.

The IHA and LDP conveniently forget that there have been 8 Empresses ( titledFemale Emperors) in the past, 2 of whom ruled twice.

Yeah, I hear you. I would love for female members who marry outside the family to be able to retain their full imperial rights, but obviously this is better than what we have now.

They just are born as Imperial Highnesses and are that their whole life and also inherit nobleness to all of their children. It is therefore completely irrelevant, if not noble people think about anything or even crazier, try to give or deny them a title. They are by no possibility empowered to interfere. Nobody cares what bourgeois people think or plan to do about anything concerning it.

The creation of the new title is seen as easier to accept for conservatives who are against allowing women to take the throne or married female members staying in the imperial household.

It would just be more beneficial for mankind to get rid of the "conservatives" instead.

This is crazy. A tittle, like concubine? Worthless as a human being? By the time these old men make up a complicated unworkable decision the royal family will be as rare as a Pander chained to a fence.. And that's sadly the best option.

"The government is considering special legislation to create the new system, rather than revising the Imperial House Law, according to the government sources."

Ah, smart way to bypass the voters and the feelings of the Royals themselves.

I dislike the fact that some people are born with higher rights than others.

Sorry I am French.

The sad thing is it most of the time make even life difficult for those people from little Baron to Emperor. And my country saw all the types.

Japan needs indeed to change for the better.

Pure politics, Princess Mako must have been told to hold off her marriage to the commoner using the smoke screen that the bloak mother has some issues. The title is held only for the purpose of generational wealth a public charge!!! Thats it.

When the imperial females become commoners they receive about ¥150 million. If they return to the family for duties will they receive further financial support in return?

Under the current law, no former royal woman can regain her royal status by returning to the imperial house once she renounces it to get married to a commoner. But of course I believe that it should be a reform agenda. What if she divorces her partner? I suggest that her return be made conditionally possible.

I like the idea like of Prince Harry becoming a commoner now he has left the royal family. All his titles and those of his wife should be removed and simply become Mr &Ms Wales.

They would be called Mr & Ms (Mountbatten-) Windsor. Sorry for nitpicks.

Exactly why I'm convinced much of these peoples' "x thousands" of years " history" is anything but hi - stories.

Excellant. Modern progress.

Take that Imperial Household Agency!!!!!

They'll spend millions of yens of our taxes and probably hundreds of hours on this irrelevant, impractical, meaningless "problem" as if they don't have other things to attend to.
