Another of the most stupid ideas of the LDP.

This would have to be one of the most stupid suggestions to come out of Tokyo in recent years. Establishing a base down south even closer to these islands would do little than antagonize China, which would probably move to one-up Japan by actually putting a military force on the Senkaku Islands. What would Japan do then?

I think Japan has enough problems of it own just keeping its Jcops from molesting school girls and groping women on trains.

Last thing Japan needs to do is start acting tough with its asian neighbors... given the fact that it basically refuses to accept any responsibility at all over its past war time aggression...

after election, everyone will just go quiet.

Oh yeh, and wait for the first of China's seven million troops to turn up.

These people have seriously nothing to do if they think that this is important.

That was a wishful thinking, China has the cutting edge of air power and submarines in the east china sea, didnt kitty hawk has been stalked by Chines e submarines within her torpedoes range? How can Japanese troops supplied? They are like those miserables in iwo Jima!

Yonaguni is part of Okinawa and thus Japan. Why does Japan need permission to put a small military base on its island?

The headline is inflammatory.

Why expect anything else from Japan, I mean it has to fit in with it's neighbors. China is beefing up it's military presence in Spratly islands, especially after the Philipines passed laws claiming some of the Islands in March that China wants and the run-ins with the US navy. Korea built a cannon/artillery type thing on Dokdo. North Korea tests missiles almost every other week now. Why shouldn't Japan join all the fun(if you can call it that).

Besides if Japan doesn't do anything it will have the same thing happen, that happened to the Phillipines and Mischief Reef(the Chinese navy essential stole it) and Vietnam and the Spratly islands(again the Chinese navy essential stole them).

I think that Japan should deport all those activists on the Island with some 3 months of Jail.

If Yonaguni is really claimed by Japan as her own territory, She has the right to put troops, or even civilian population there.

Sooner or later, China will occupy uninhabited islands in the east China sea just like what she did in South China Sea.

China believes that both the South China Sea and the East China Sea, having the word "China" in it, are lakes or bodies of water inside China so everything within like oil, islands should be owned by China.

A step closer to WW3 !!

First intelligent question posted. Of course that begs the question of why so many posters are bent out of shape over it. Bet you anything China couldn't care less.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't, sometimes by the same poster.
