Hospitable not hospital ( grammatically incorrect )

! Philippines is the best place to go , doctors are well highly intellectual , well experience . Big hospital doctors went to US for training , cheaper but reliable . Kind & hospital . You will get the best care when you go to the right place , everybody speaks English . Big hospital like St Luke's has the most modern facilities at par w/ the world . If you do have equipment but lacks the ability to use it , it's useless. Stop fighting who is the best . In every country there are doctors who are really good , some are freakin moron . So please .. Japan has the best super doctors too & so with China .. So shut up !! Chinese , Koreans , I am fed up with that Island grabbing thingy . I hope the whole world will end .. We don't have to fight over anything .. Kiddos!!!

I know. I love that emergencies rooms have closed hours. Honestly though, what kind of medical system has such things at large hospitals?

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

tmarie: Worse than that is how hospitals here, save for MAJOR hospitals in major cities, are run on typical business hours. If you get injured on a holiday, heaven forbid! As for the rejections, one of the reasons is because old people with a cold decide to treat the hospital like a hotel for as long as I can so there are no beds for people seriously injured, and I bet they are ones polled for such wonderful results.

Indeed Smith. How many oreganant women have died for being refused a bed here? One is too many.

Hot love how hospitals reject people and tell them to go elsewhere in cases of emergencies. I've had that happen more than once. Unreal.

How about getting you to a hospital in an ambulance before you die? What's the average rejection rate by hospitals? about 7 or so before one will take you?

I'd also like so see a source for your information. Japan has some great medical care, but it also has a lot of crap you have to wade through to get it, and even then it's often luck of the draw.

Medical tourism in Japan? Hahahahaha! Oh please! I refuse to go to doctors here unless it is an emergency as the treatment here is sub-par. The hospital are often dark, old nasty places with old gits with bad bedside manner running the show. Indeed, there are new places that are okay but on average, no thanks. Just take a look at women's health in this country and anyone can figure out things are not well.

Why aren't these people heading to Singapore?

china is so far behind japan , and it is nice of japan that the idiot china knows what it is , lol

Maybe so far. But China wants to introduce universal care in the next decade. Oh, yeah, it's going to be a big mess at the start and will take years to get right. But I remember reading that recently in China's big cities lifespans are starting to approach those of developed countries.

Doesn't WHO rank Japan around no. 10?

Dentists? What I would do is find a decent one for cleaning and minor stuff. If I needed something major I would go to a major PUBLIC university dental college. I know someone who had braces as well as her jaw reduced in size. Since it was a symptom ins. paid for it. Now she has a beautiful smile.

I agree with someone saying be careful where you go, but they generally get the job done here.

well, at least Japan's medical service is way better than what those chinese people can get in china.

There's no doubt about that, but if I were a Chinese with money, I'd go to Thailand, India or Malaysia, where the private medical/dental services are better and more professional, they are cheaper and you don't have put up with the local xenophobia.

Malay and Thai doctors/dentist, in the private sector, often have foreign experience and have all the latest medicines at their disposal. It is estimated that Japan, with its protectionist red tape, is 5 years behind on medicines available.

This medical tourism is just a non-starter for the Japanese and a waste of money.

17 years experience in Japan has shown me that Japanese doctors are very very rarely hit and often miss.

Isn't it the same with dentists too. though? I was very lucky to have found a good dentist in my last years in Japan when I really needed work done.

Sherman, what happened to you? Did you die in a hosp. a number of times? Also, your friends? Can you be more specific? You are not saying much. You sound like you are criticizing something you know nothing about.

If you find a clinic with a good GP and stick with it, then I agree Japan has some fine doctors, but going to the hospital is like playing Russian roulette. I've been told, in consultation after regular health checks, that I would "die of a heart attack within ten years", that I had hepatitis, that my pancreas was toast, and various other diseases, all of which were false. I'm pretty sure they just wanted me to come back for more tests and MRIs or what have you and collect more money. That or they are grossly inadequate for the job.

Anyway, I'm with JeffLee on this one. It's amazing how much PR Japan puts into portraying itself as a place friendly to foreign visitors and where you should come and spend your money, when in reality it is quite insular and not very foreign friendly in many respects at all; ESPECIALLY if you're Chinese or South Korean these days. Radicals like Ishihara and Co. will spit on you, but they still want your money.

I hate to say it but Japan, Inc (government, special interests, and corporate Japan) is a disgrace, a mix of corruption and ineptness. In the 144 years since the Meiji Restoration, the public has never been properly represented nor effectively led.

No one does anything to attract investment or manufacturing and taxpayer money is spent to help corporations off-shore manufacturing jobs. Meanwhile, the elite try to sell the idea that the economy can be revived by increased tourism, green energy, and a larger financial service sector. Incredible.

Farmboy,

I must always get the worst doctors and everybody else I know too.

High quality of Treatment?? Poppycock!

In a new approach, Japan started advertising itself to the world several years ago. Come and travel, be treated, invest, etc. Unfortunately, this approach is being spoiled by the attitudes of too many people in Japan, like Shintaro Ishihara, his mates and the Japanese public who continue to vote for him.

Welcoming large numbers of foreigners requires more than investment and PR. It also requires a more open, less insular view of the world.

Unfortunately nowadays everything is done in return for money, money, money. What a shame!
