I personally would hope that local governments would do more to help those that are hardest hit from the virus.

I have a number of friends who work for unten daiko here, and many have had ZERO income, outside of the 100,000 from the government, since April. Other's are still working and many only getting 1,000 to 2,000 yen per night, working 12 hours a shift.

They can not get other jobs, because of their age, most in the early to mid 60's, some with no pensions at all.

Sure they can apply for welfare, but the one's I know wont go that route, because they want to work and make their own money!

My local government still hasn't passed on the promised government money, due to apparently being swamped and internal paperwork slowing the release into months, so I doubt people leaping in tights( I know that's wrong) are getting it either....unless they know someone who enjoys these obscure entertainments.

As well as support for various programs, our city is offering a range of interest free loans, some can be repaid over 10 years, some less. No guarantor needed. Applications until the end of September.

Well, this is a good sign If Japan is dishing out money to save the arts now. I mean yes, for those of you who haven’t gotten their payments yet, that’s not good for you. But what I mean is, is the fact that they can move on to the arts now, rather than doing with some countries are doing. Like in the US for example. :(
