I agree with what Kimura says about the ocean without walls and potential health concerns; I'm just baffled by China's protests. The biggest polluter of the world trying to lecture others.

Anyone who believes the official Tepco/ LDP story that everything is just peachy... I have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to take sole ownership of Tokyo Tower, Hachiko's statue, Skytree and the Rainbow Bridge. Contact me for details and don't miss out!

If these resident, groups etc. had any real and I mean real genuine concerns, they'd be begging for the release of water to happen as soon as possible so that the clean up of the site can occur. As it stand the site and the cordoned off area is NOT rehabilitated. the sooner all the water is released, the better.

Hmm how many children got thyroid cancer after the 3 meltdowns

All we have to do now is Wait And See.

It is perfectly safe and much safer than all levels of all water released by 100% of reactors around the world.

Not letting kiddies play in radioactive water is a smart move Japanese mums…
nosuke
100% safer water compared to all reactors doesn’t mean it’s great water for the ocean.

All waters of all oceans in the world are interconnected. Therefore Japan releasing so great an amount of radioactive water for forty years! 40!! will contaminate all the ocean waters of planet Earth !!!
Japan ! Why not just leave the radioactive contaminated water where they are now? Are the people of Japan not among the most intelligent people on Planet Earth?
*RISE ! UP ! ! PEOPLE ! ! ! OF ! ! ! ! ! JAPAN ! ! ! ! ! STOP YOUR STUPID GOVERNMENT ! ! ! ! ! ! RELEASING POISONED WATER ON THE
WORLD ! ! ! ! ! ! ! *

Mothers can always feel it in their waters.

The release has been authorized by the world’s regulatory bodies, and on paper looks comparably safer than the daily releases from nuclear power plants in neighboring countries, i.e. it is as safe as anyone could reasonably expect.
But, if these ladies are going to perform an independent double-check duty, why not? What’s not to like?

I don't trust tepco or the J government as far as I could throw them.
If it's safe then let the oyaji in the diet drink it!
Hiro S Nobumasa
All of these safe waters should not be wasted and utilized for irrigation and supplied to swimming pools.

The ocean became everyone’s dumpster

I’m no expert on radiation or radioactive water disposal; however, is it possible to put the contaminated water in enclosed evaporations ponds allowing the water molecules to evaporate, leaving behind the radioactive matter to be disposed of in the best manner available such as cement vaults buried in the ground?
nandakandamanda
No-one said it was ‘safe’.
But it will be filtered, then diluted to way within international safety standards, before being diluted once more by the ocean. The outflow will be much like most nuclear power plants around the globe. It’s ‘relatively safer’.
Would you drink seawater?
No, I thought not.

Because there is an entire site contaminated by many many times more than the treated water, and the site is already connected to the ocean.
The best outcome for humanity is to decommission (clean) the site in its entirety ASAP, and the first step getting rid of those water. If anything, we should all be saying the water has to be released faster than the 30 years gradual plan (the purpose of which is to pacify the nut jobs like the people referred to in this article). Like you say it's going to be there whether it's one year or 30 years.

The nuclear disaster site will not be cleared for another 50-100 years with millions more of water to come. The site will be off-limit forever.
