Local hotels and resorts down here have been offering discounts, and not just the "average" types of hotels either, even the Halekulani resort has them too! A friend stayed there with his family for 3 nights, 3 adults, 2 "kids" , in two rooms, and he said they paid around a total of 35,000 yen for the rooms!
Typically during the season here the Halekulani's "cheapest" rooms, no specials, no discounts, run around between 50,000 to 70,000 per night!

Good luck with this one! The need for having these published into English domestically are extremely low, and wouldn't be cost effective.
Could be wrong but I would suggest finding someone who can help you with the Japanese, would be a hell of a lot faster!

If the virus-hit industry is subsidized with our tax money, the effect of discount would be limited.

I'd go, even if it is just 30km down the road for dinner, breakfast and accom (onsen etc) for effectively the price of dinner. If the food is good, that is. Neighbouring prefectures would be even better!

3 times I stayed in a 4-5 star hotel in my prefecture. Usually ¥25000 with breakfast and onsen. Paid ¥11000 2pax. Brilliant!

My wife and I have many times. There are nearly 500 hotels and resorts here in Okinawa and there are some decent deals to be had with being local. We have stayed at some nice places and enjoyed being away from the "kids" and have a nice meal together.

A list of prefectures offering discounts would be nice. A link for more information would be helpful.
Your move, JT.

LOL, Yubaru. Now it is a good time to do them more often.

A few years ago my wife and I went to stay overnight at an onsen hotel in Hokodate. The onsen was awesome. The buffet dinner and breakfast were beautiful. Hopefully when international travel between Japan and Australia is back to normal there is some good deals around.

This is what Halekulani Hotel told me yesterday by email just to understand how vague is chatting here without being sure :
Warm greetings from Halekulani Okinawa.
This is Miran from Room Reservation, and it is very nice e-meeting you.
We appreciate for you that planning to stay with us.
About the special price promotion, we don’t have any government help or direct hotel discount right now.
If you check some other online agents, sometimes they have discounts but we don’t know when they do discount.
Reservation from our official website or call are always same price.
Should you need any further information about our property, please do not hesitate to contact me at anytime.
We are looking forward to seeing you soon.

This is great, everyone get out there and pack those hotels. The owners need business.
