The world needs to ask: what do we want with North Korea? If we want regime change, then we need to devise a plan and go in to force Kim out. After a few decades, it is clear that change would not come from within. The North Koreans are unwilling and/or unable to do it themselves.

@kaitenzushi126: No nation will gain "anything" by taking military action against N.Korea. Instead N.Korea propoganda is used as a welcome distraction by all the concerned nations (US and Japan to be specific) from their own domestic core issues which are a lot more serious. This news article is just another example in that direction, a distraction from some lot more serious issue happening around.
I mean do you really think N.Korea will use those missiles against any of its neighbours, specially when uncle Sam is spying and sniffing around? I seriously doubt after all these years.

Are Americans in Japan on alert too?

What a waste of time and effort !!
Tired of these hoax.

Garfield - I agree.
A totally over-hyped sly act to garner sobs from the masses from Abe & co.
Coincident - Abe yesterday was under extremely intense pressure from within his party and from opposition forces re the tax hike deferral. The grim situation (Abes face) was plastered everywhere - so to diffuse ( a little) a scaremongering evil empire sit-com was broadcast. Read as " I will protect the Japanese people".
Coincident - good ol' AHK ..er sorry NHK, was the first to report it - surprise, surprise. The scenes I saw on NHK news last night created a feeling of urgency as if an attack was imminent. Probably toned down today, but worked as a temporary distraction.
And if all the patriot ready actions were only aimed to protect citizens from projectiles, are the same actions deployed when "friendly" missiles and rockets are fired in case of a mal-function and the fiery projectile returns to Japanese soil???
Maybe they do without the bleeding hyperbole.

"Contained"? . . . like ISIS? I remember Obama tried to sell that lemon too . . . then Paris was hit last Nov.
Well I just hope the Japanese can intercept any stray / rogue incoming rodong missile headed towards Japan. I would truly hate to see a "direct hit" in some city like Sendai, Osaka, Nagoya or (lord forbid) Tokyo.

We all know who is that official, pathetic diversion

Let's ask the pacifists. They seem to think that santions are effective in deterring this regime. They pacifist sleep well at night knowing that patriot missile batteries keep them safe. The pacifists know nothing about being put on alert.
Meanwhile, the North Koreans are threatening to blow the tits off the world. And have been acting this way for some time.

They are - in case you haven't noticed, NK is contained, unlike certain other world-policing nations, have not invaded anyone.
Saber rattling. When did names start breaking bones over sticks and stones?

Of course they are . . . Japan is a US protectorate. I don't think Okiniwans would agree though.
