Japan should send in the heavy lifters, bulldozers, fuel generators to help with the living situation as well as the cleanup process. Its too far and takes too long for US and others to send in such equipment. Japan is the best choice for such aides.

JMSDF can dispatch helicopter carrier to assist in the remote islands that were hit hard where local respondents couldn't get to. Other than the USN, only the JMSDF has such capability to conduct search and rescue. Both China and Vietnam were also hit hard by Haiyan on their own. Its up to Japan and US to save the day.

Times like these are good chances for everyone in the world to come together and show that we can set aside our differences and work for a common cause to help those in need.

There's so much to do, where do you start? At least Japan and the US are getting a move on. Brits coming in too.

Philippines Govt. should start typing 'Thank You' letter for SDF now.

Well done Japan. Hopefully this offer will be accepted because the scenes from the Philippines is just gut wrenching :(

Thank you, Japan.

I expected at least this level of assistance would be made available. When the US talks about wanting Japan to play a larger role in regional security, this kind of participation is included. Well done Japan.

Sounds like the situation where Japan´s new helicopter carrier would be useful.

There are risks for infectious diseases. The SDF would be highly appreciated for ensuring clean drinking water and long-term medical support.

Well done, Japan. Spread the love.

This will be a great experience for the troops too.
