Japan decision to send some battle ships into middle a neighbor's sea exercise is extremely foolish and provocative. It did not serve itself good interest and potentially causing an accident. It is like a tennis fan walking into a tennis double match it is asking for trouble. This is ruthless and selfish act. Japan is arrogant and thinks it is the boss of Asia and can do what it wants. After 100+ yrs of aggression on its neighbors it really seem Japan never learned from past mistakes. The world only needs to study last 150yrs history and found the true cause of current issues.

since koizumi and abe took control the Govt. Japan's problems with it's neighbors have been sky rocketing! it's important to note these two belong to liberal democratic party or LDP and they represent right wing nationalists view. There are people in Japan who despise what the current administration are doing to ruin the peace Japan had with neighboring countries.

All I know is that the US Navy could whip them all, China, Japan and the Korean navies combined. As long as that's the case and Japan/US alliance is in place China knows that they have nothing, even with their min-carrier, to stop the USN from ruling the seas. Maybe its time for Japan to build a few super-carriers and then and only then can the US in good faith think about drawing back its Western Pacific feet.

What? There's no hotline yet in place?

That's only pure assumption and how the average Japanese view the Americans. And even if the Americans are also spying, they would at least keep a safe distance from the Chinese ships to keep themselves safe.

Snort - haven't you heard of the infamous American practice called "underhulling"?

According to Chinese sources, the spying Japanese ship numbered 107 wasn't just stalking Chinese ships but it actually went right into the center of the field of exercise, behaving as if it was the commander of the exercise and has stayed there for days.

Interesting ... you really should give a link, but let's examine this as you presented it.

First, the "days" part - expect it to stay there until the exercise is over.

The "commander of the exercise" part is only subjective judgment.

As for the "center of the field of exercise" - good way to make it sound bad without being falsifiable. Note that it wasn't the "center of formation" (which still would not necessarily be dangerous as long as the Japanese ship follows the movement of the flagship rather than cutting across bows ... etc) - that would be falsifiable.

Remember that this is at sea, so the field of exercise has no fixed location like a land based range. By arbitrarily determing the corners of the exercise, the Japanese ship will always be in the "center of the field of exercise".

Propaganda is not generally about lying so much as putting these subtle shades on all things.

Unknown to everybody, Chinese new type of submarine with the fake imitation GOTLAND Sterling Propulsion Engine keep on going inside the Japanese water including Shikoku and Kyushu area. Chinese is always testing their new submarine well inside Japanese territory whether Jpan Navy has the capability to detect their new submarine.

Well, 2 day ago, Japan commissioned the new KOKURYU Sterling Propulsion Submarine. The real sterling propulsion engine.

Thanks to Chinese fascist, nazist, stalinist, maoist approach. Japan is now totally awakened

Conjecture.

That's not the case for the Japanese. According to Chinese sources, the spying Japanese ship numbered 107 wasn't >just stalking Chinese ships but it actually went right into the center of the field of exercise, behaving as if it was the >commander of the exercise and has stayed there for days.

According to "Chinese sources" all of which are controlled by CCP government.

From the behavior of the spying Japanese ship, it seems that under the leadership of the fascist Shinzo Abe, Japan is >starting to behave like a hooligan

This is rich coming from a supporter of Fascist China.

who has no proper manner and has absolutely no respect for its neighbors. Exactly like what Japan used to be before >it was nuked by the Americans.

And what China is emulating today. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-china-16063607

In fact, they might as well be happy at least they can see the Japanese who are tracking their exercise with a surface vessel, because the Americans are probably doing the same with a sub they cannot see.

As you called the Americans "real hypocrites", I wonder whether a hooligan is better than a hypocrite? For me, at least I don't mind talking to hypocrites since they usually have good manners unlike a hooligan.

Chuck So only Japan can do miitary drills?

Yes Chuck. Those islands are part of Japanese territory and they have the right to do so.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

If we assume the Chinese are doing this out of genuine concern rather than being a cheap ploy to fool morons that don't understand how the world works, they are just naive.

In fact, they might as well be happy at least they can see the Japanese who are tracking their exercise with a surface vessel, because the Americans are probably doing the same with a sub they cannot see.

The Americans can brag that in the early Cold War if they see a Soviet sub within x miles tracking their CVBG they'll sink it, but by international law (and by the freedom of seas so beloved by them) this is actually wrong (and because of how much the US loves the freedom of the sea it makes them real hypocrites). Any small legitimacy they might have would be based on the operational significance of a carrier battle group, and let's face it a Chinese group does not have the combat coeffcients to claim more than tactical significance, so even that thin (to non-existence) reed won't work.

If someone wants to make morning exercise in front of my house

Well, observing a person exercising won't get you killed. But you could be killed by live firing if you keep stalking Chinese ships like a Japanese chiken (痴漢 a phenomenon in Japan) during their military exercises.

And the Pacific Ocean isn't your house and it doesn't belong to Japan too.

It seems like Shinzo Abe really wants his spy ship to get shot down by the live firing during the exercise so that he could gain support to get rid of the Peace Constitution. Besides that, the other thing that the Japanese fascists have been trying to do since they regained control of Japan in the 1950s is to revive State Shinto or Imperial Shinto (Yasukuni cult).

Let's hear the apologists come on here in full drove and say how this is somehow China's fault, and Japan is doing nothing wrong -- no provocation, not bombast, nothing. Japan conducts military exercises with the US to 'take back islands' and defends the exercises, then condemns China and South Korea for doing the same. The hypocrisy is astounding. But hey, no provocation by Japan here! Watch the media be surprised when Chinese ships sail into Japanese territory tomorrow.

-10 ( +2 / -12 )

So only Japan can do military drills. It was only couple of days ago when Japan protested to S.Korea for their military drill. Only Japan can do military drills, and only Japan can claim all the islands. Only Japan is allowed to do anything it wants. Everyone else must get permissions from Japan.

@Heza!

Japan made a general announcement concerning the drones since the drones were not properly marked with a national insignia. That is why Japan stated drone of unknown origin. PLAAF is probably now busy painting a red star on all their drones. LoL

4 ( +6 / -2 )

China needs to get off their high horse and quit acting like 4 year olds who isnt getting their way. Because thats how theyre acting, Japan bought those islands from a private owner, and its really coming off as China wants to start a war. And by treaty the US would have to get involved. Seriously nobody can afford another war..

Japan has a right to observe anything that might be viewed as a threat to their property, especially over the policy over drones not leaving airspace when asked. They have the right to shoot them down.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

If someone wants to make morning exercise in front of my house, he can do so because the road is a public property. But someone cannot prevent me from watching him doing exercise. He cannot also prevent me from going outside my property on the road on front of my house because that road is for everybody's to stand or walk to.

If you want a peaceful exercise, talk and invite properly the owner of the house just in front of the public road you are going to use for exercise.

For sure, I will not go to your property if you do the exercise inside your own backyard.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Sorry Japan I'm with China on this, to be in observation range you need to be inside of 13 km's, that is too close and you were endangering people.

-10 ( +0 / -10 )

Japan never learned their past idiotic mistakes.

Rubbish.

I'm glad Japan are starting to stand up for their rights and voice their position with clarity. They are well within their rights to do so, and China should both appreciate and respect that, because it's what they do all the time.

5 ( +10 / -5 )

If China and Japan went to war (wont happen, but theoretically), Japan would have to declare insolvency within the first 12 months, due to a lack of funds. Their bond yields would surge past 3% and they wouldnt be able to service existing debt.

@darknuts

That happens all the time in competition sports like baseball, basketball and so on.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

China’s defense ministry on Thursday slammed Japans dangerous provocation in shadowing the drills, without clearly stating the location.

China stating the location will help their argument.

Gee, I wonder why they aren't providing this?

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Japan never learned their past idiotic mistakes.

-4 ( +6 / -10 )

Why don't these 2 just terminate diplomatic relationship to show some real color since they hate each other so much?

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

while there's nothing illegal about it, it is pretty creepy. It's like some guy following you around at the gym and watching you for hours.

ControlFreakNov. 02, 2013 - 09:25AM JST Of course its not against international law to hang out on the open sea and watch someone's live fire drills. But its still >damned irresponsible. It could have triggered a war.

Not unless the Chinese decide to lock fire control radar on the observing ships. Oh wait...

-4 ( +3 / -7 )

Of course its not against international law to hang out on the open sea and watch someone's live fire drills. But its still damned irresponsible. It could have triggered a war.

This is why China has lodged a diplomatic protest. I don't see anything from the Chinese about a claim of violating international law. So yeah, I think China knows the legal score.

-9 ( +3 / -12 )

Absolutely. It seems that it is up to Japan to educate the Peoples Republic of China since they appear to have not read any of the relevant International laws on Law of the Sea. Good for Japan, doing very well with this all.

-1 ( +7 / -8 )

Good. Japan is perfectly within its rights to shadow the PLA Navy in international waters.
