5,000 doesn't seem that many, but important to stop the spread. Anti-biotics can cure it, but it was once a feared disease. If you are of a sensitive disposition, don't Google pictures of "tertiary syphilis".

Use a condom. It's not rocker science. There should be more public campaigns promoting safer sex.

would like to see more demographics, what type of 20 year olds, how many reported vs unreported cases and so forth. considering japan's decline in birthrate, sexless marriages, high number of female and male virgins what type of young people are contracting this disease?

@macv.

me too. Show us the demographics. More than likely, those women in their 20 are probably involved in the sex industrial complex.......which is open for business right under everyone’s noses.

open for business right under everyone’s noses.

Not just noses.

http://www.cnn.com/2017/09/26/health/std-highest-ever-reported-cdc/index.html

you are showing your age a bit. Use a robot. They are very realistic these days, can talk and move and even say your name during...they are only about $2000. No disease. Usually marriage is about 36-38 years in japan. So intimacy is not important.

Japanese girls need to wisen up.

I have rarely met a lady here who insisted I use a condom. I assume I could have gotten away without using it everytime.

Perhaps better sex education is needed.

In my experience, was pretty much the same with western girls tbh. Thank God we dudes were/are 'always' responsible pheeew!!!

Condom use has been declining for quite a while, in most countries.

There’s nothing like the “feeling” of soft, warm, real woman. But anyways, enjoy ur robot.

5000 cases officially. I believe there are more people out there wandering with the disease.

Staying faithful to one partner usually works too..,.

To prevent further spread of the disease ahead of the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2020, the Tokyo metropolitan government has earmarked funds...

How is this related to the Olympics? Do they want to tell the world: come to Japan for the Olympics and please enjoy sex with the locals. Must be part of the planned hospitality....

Is that a lot ?

This illness mainly affects male homosexuals. Is this the outcome of more recognition of same sex partners ?

Just wondering the why to understand how this illness is spreading.

Fortunatetely, it can be treated easily in first stages.

Also, it has nothing to do with the olympics, sex not being a sport as far as I know.

This illness mainly affects male homosexuals.

Totally incorrect.

Is this the outcome of more recognition of same sex partners ?

No. It is not.

Did you not read the article?

"the number rising particularly among women in their 20s"

need safe sex education at the high school level

When some don't read medical articles, please shut up.

Without breaking the figures, no one can tell what we are talking about.

I repeat for fact (in world on average) : syphilis affects male homosexuals. Please protect yourself.

Wrong not to be aware of std.

I repeat for fact (in world on average) : syphilis affects male homosexuals.

And it also affects heterosexuals. What's your point?

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

The point is to have safe sex , isn't it?
