Hope Pearl Harbour is on Red Alert.

I didn't know there was a USNS Matthew Perry. Pretty cool that it will be involved in this exercise.

Not surprising, both South Koreans and Japanese love America sooooo much.

Indeed. As China gets more bossy, the rest of Asia is increasingly cuddling up to Uncle Sam for its security. This also includes the Philippines (which kicked the Americans out about 15 years ago), Thailand, Singapore, etc.

If the regional tensions with China continue, I daresay we'll see US bases back in Vietnam!

As China gets more bossy

Amazing how China went from lay and take it, straight to bossy, with no stopping in the middle. Maybe if the U.S. would have stopped antagonizing China, we would not be in this position today? But of course, some people like this position. It puts Japan and SK between a rock and a hard place, and on a nice leash with a collar that says "Property of the U.S. Gov".

Regardless, China standing up for its land claims is hardly bossy. But if you insist it is, China is just matching the bossiness of everybody else. China has been pretty patient about its land claims etc. until recently. How much patience did you expect?

From Wiki:

USNS Matthew Perry (T-AKE-9) is a Lewis and Clark-class dry cargo ship of the United States Navy, named in honor of Commodore Matthew C. Perry (1794–1858), who led the effort to open Japan to trade with the West.

This ship was one of several participating in disaster relief after the 2011 Touhoku earthquake and tsunami. During the 21 days of operations, Matthew Perry completed 17 separate replenishment events and delivering more than 1.5 million gallons (5,700 cubic meters) of fuel and transported relief supplies.

China, as usual, is not invited.

Let me guess.............. Japan is Red team . US/Korea Blue team. On account japan has experience invading the territory.

I'm not the only one. Vietnam, Philippines, Japan, S. Korea, Taiwan, etc. etc. are of this view.

Will Ospreys be deployed to prove their reliability?

The exercises are being held in and near Hawaii, it is their decision to fly them. oberst, Japan has not invaded anyone in 70 years. The SDF did not stand up until 52 and then the members did not wear their uniforms in public. The USA has more current experience with invading countries.

It is just a local stimulus package and a political typhoon. No shortage of oil for these countries even though the price a fuel in the USA is going up in cost every minute.

The U.S. Pacific Fleet said Monday the drills will include a search-and-seizure exercise, a counter-piracy event, a search-and-rescue exercise and officer exchanges

How does the purpose of these exercises; see above (from the article), have anything to do with China being bossy with land disputes? These drills are essential to any Navy in the world. This is good to see Allies (Japan and Korea) putting aside their differences to perform drills essential to both the region, as well as their respective countries.

Nice attempt at humor but in 1941 Korea was part of the Red Team.

Forget 1941, forgeet 1919, forget it all. If SK hates Japan more than NK, then there is no hope for any of the countries to move to the 21st century. Nobody should complain about the hate one group has for another group in the rest of the world. Apparently, it never ends.
