that is a shame and local governments should be held accountable! Maybe organize within the PTA? It’s been very effective to push changes at our school.

No, it is purposeful. Not everyone wants their children sitting in front of laptops and iPads all day. It’s a nightmare in local public schools where they can’t have class if the Internet goes down.

Geez... even their overseas schools don't have modern technology? The government is probably sore that they can't get faxes there.

the government will send information and communication technology experts and pay half the costs.
Can't fly. Quarantine.
Can' t they use local IT experts?

There are a large number of public Japanese schools overseas that are run by the government as any other local school as up to junior high. My son went to one in London that has low fees like her and not as high as International Schools. hey would have received the help.

We have children who attend Japanese school in the US. Our school has English every day for an hour as well as electives taught in English. We also have exchanges with local schools....I assure you the kids are doing just fine learning English.
Secondly, our tuition is extremely high. We normally don’t use computers much at all. We receive very little tax money compared to schools in Japan. As citizens, the government believes we have a right to Japanese education, so we have to have the laptops. We cannot have in class sessions right now as it isn’t even allowed by the local government and probably won’t be in the fall.

The J Gov is sending tax payer funded computers to private Japanese schools abroad?
Public schools in Japan don’t even have them FFS!

If you are living overseas for a couple of years, in most countries your kids would be better off attending a local school. In 2 years they would be fluent in the language.
