Honestly good luck guys! Wish more space endeavors were happening but at least this is something.

The weather is very cloudy here in Tohoku right now, so I doubt I will get see it from here, but we can watch the launch live on the internet. There is more information about the streaming video live launch here - http://www.jaxa.jp/index_e.html

North Korea will no doubt will say that Japan is launching a spy satellite to spy on it while China will claim it's a new preemptive offensive war satellite to invade China yet again.
Meanwhile back at the ranch, ganbatte Japan!

NB - That is what makes JAXA so vastly different from the PLA 'space' program and the PKA ballistic missile program. Transparency. Scientists, politicians, media, and investors from all over the world can all participate in the creation, launch, and utilization of Japan's space vehicles. Now try getting into one of China's space facilities or the DPRK's missile factories. Despite what they might say in the press, both the PLA and KPA know exactly what goes on at Tanegashima. They probably have spy scientists working there and have invested money in the projects.

Now we can typically measure rainfall only around land. These new satellites should allow rain measurement over the vast oceans, thus a more complete picture worldwide.

I love hi-tech satellites - much better than those guys that just orbited the Earth going" beep beep beep."

This weather satellite is for MILITARY use. It's primary objective is to assess cloud coverage over prospective battle sites or Sea lanes
