Welcome to Japan ! Give us our money and GET OUT !!

For some reason I would prefer that these scientists go to a research center where these viruses and whatnot are already being studied, instead of importing them here.

I do not blame the people who live near these locations from being fearful of their safety.

Confidence level is far from high with their ability to keep things safe!

Goodlucktoyou

didn't you know? Japanese are not like other humans, their special. I remember the minister of health saying that when AIDS was an issue. I certainly would want to any closer than a continent from EBOLA. Couldn't they just use the latest computer simulations, oh! What about faxing the results of those who have been studying it for decades. An inforseen door left open or a failure to wash hands could spread this like wild fire and we would all have to share the burden.

Hmmm... this does not inspire confidence. It would be interesting to hear the thinking behind this decision, whoever made it.

A few words or warning concerning the import of these pathogens:

big earthquake ... many severely damaged buildings.

The pathogens would be kept at the institute's laboratory in the city of Musashimurayama. The lab is currently the only one in Japan with the maximum biosafety level -- BSL-4

Let’s hope they also have the security level to go with the bio safety level. I shudder to think what would happen if these viruses were let loose on such a concentrated population.

Used to be in a medical lab not far from the protected wing where they studied the HIV virus

Remembering the swine flu hysteria a few years ago, imagine the panic that ebola would cause.

Coming soon to a theater near you "Biohazard Japan".

"we don't know anything about Ebola escept that it's really really dangerous..... "

"I know, let's buy some and play.... "

smart!

will not push forward without local support

well, not till it's already imported anyway.... you couldn't make this stuff up

It's like if other countries use Geiger counters on incoming Japanese tourists....

Can't they just simulate the scenario, read the hundreds of published research, and consult with Ebola experts? Based on how they are handling the rubella problem, it will be more disastrous than the 3/11 reactor meltdown if something goes wrong with the imported Ebola virus.

It’s not worth the risk with regard to the low number of cases seen in Asia.

The money would be better spent installing barriers on platforms as more Japanese meet their maker on the tracks.....
