Absolute waste of time! Doesn’t stop transmission which is the whole point at those facilities. If the patients at those facilities have received their umpteenth shot then that is all that can be done! Don’t force the poor staff and workers to overdose on these useless vaccines that were designed for a no longer relevant variant!

Those vaccines will be wasted if not being used, not all people in Japan interested in vaccine and so far is not get easier to be vaccinated in Japan, considering need to make appointment etc.

I'm not in any rush for this one. I am not at all skeptical of the benefits of vaccination, but given that every time I've suffered side effects that knock me out for a couple of days, and I feel like I JUST got the third vaccination, I'll hold off for now.

It is absoluetly crazy, that there are still people around who do say, this vaccine reduces the transmission, even in front of their eyes, cases are skyrocketing daily.

Vaccines have been extremely useful in preventing deaths and even lowering infection and transmission, the result being expected is the same it has been obtained until now.

Total 2021 Covid-19 deaths, Japan (vaccines available halfway through the year): 14901

2022 Covid-19 deaths between January and July, Japan (population 80% vaccinated): 13141

The number of Covid-19 deaths in an 80% fully vaccinated Japan is set to exceed the number of deaths in a not fully vaccinated Japan.

Even if that is due to higher transmissibility, its still a higher number of deaths, hence objectively a failure.

That the vaccine do reduce the transmission and spread of the virus, just works on paper. It was told to the public based on Data and reports.

Wolfshine, the same is true in every country that touts ”80%” vaccination rate. So the deaths ”postponed” from waves 1-6 are taking place now. And at what cost? The young lives financially ruined for life, mental health issues, developmental problems for kids who cannot see the lips move, etc.

in our working place most of people are vaccinated by 3 shots and guess what.

last week business was closed because of covid outbreak here.no face masks have stopped it,no 3 vaccines have stopped it.

At least in Tokyo, you can just walk in to get tested in several places. But my question is, why would you want to? It brings no benefit to know if you are not in a high risk group. Is your runny nose and sore throat because of influenza, common cold or corona makes no difference. Stay home a few days and you’re good to go.

@Bronco, Stop using the 'goalposts' scenario. This virus had moved the goalposts. If boosters (which do us no harm apart from a small arm and maybe a low grade fever) let the economy continue to function and live without restrictions then so be it.

Again just like more people die now with obligatory seat belts than before they were used, because other factors are driving the numbers up, the vaccines have clearly helped reducing the rates of death which would be impossible if your explanation was true.

Again no need of excuses, omicron causes much more cases, death rates are much lower than last year, specially in vaccinated people, how do your explanation address this much more excessive death rates between unvaccinated people? just saying most deaths are from vaccinated people does nothing because after all there are much more vaccinated people and the groups that are at much more risk are included. If people of those groups used to represent 99% of the deaths and now they are on comparable numbers with the unvaccinated that means that 98% of excess are being prevented.

@Wolfshine - The total flaw in your argument is that using 2021 is irrelevant as Omicron which we all know is a lot more transmissible and even more so with each new sub variant it would seem as you yourself has stated.

Yes, Covid kills - and the death rate is lower. But so many more people are contracting it. There are no excuses, but there no point in my mind NOT to be unvaccinated and reduce my chance of death. Since there are no other preventative drugs that have the same effect then you are just plain wrong, and you can throw all the data/sources you want at us, but bothered tbh. I've had 3 shots, I 'think' I've had Covid once, possibly twice and I'm OK. But I'm over 50 so I will always wonder if I would have got sicker without that protection, but I'm pretty sure it stopped the virus advancing.

The pharmaceutical companies are really slow rolling the updated vaccines. My wife and I got Pfizer 3 times. We will get Moderna this time.

Being vaxxed, keeping your hands clean, wearing a mask on the train and other crowded places and getting on with life normally is sufficient. You will look back and see 3-4 years of your life wasted.

why was this push not seen during influenza seasons? It is has similar mortality rates.

I do not remember any "flu-lockdowns" or mandates. Also, why only post "cases" instead of "covid related deaths"?

My theory (not fact) is if the actual death rates were published, many would see just how survivable it is.

I myself had in March 2021, and yes it is "no joke". I was ill for a week, but overcame it just as I do with flu (which is just as deadly).

I wonder if there is a relationship between people who regularly had the seasonal flu vaccination and death from COVID regardless whether vaccinated or not ?
