How convenient!

Now many Japanese people can travel to international airports and welcome the foreign tourists.

It’s a win win.

I just hope they get the English correct this time.

Go To English Class.

The move came as Kishida also said the government plans to abolish its cap on daily arrivals on Oct 11, currently set at 50,000, as well as resume individual visa-free arrivals to the country.

I thought the entire purpose of the Go To discounts was to increase domestic tourism due to the absence of foreign tourists.

Great news, my partner and I will take full advantage of this, whoopee!

my partner and I will take full advantage of this,

If it will continue over Christmas and new year, then me too.

Great news, my partner and I will take full advantage of this, whoopee!

I find it highly ironic that many that denied the severity of the coronavirus, criticized prevention measures and the necessity of government relief to those affected welcome handouts from the public treasury to travel related business owners and those with the leisure time and disposable income for travel.

Kishida"s New Capitalism wealth distribution: take from the taxes of workers living paycheck to paycheck to enrich business owners and the independently wealthy leisure class.

So will millions of others – enjoy your time, cheek by jowl with the hordes…

Do you need to be triple vaccinated and boosted to qualify for this ?

If so that's me out.

This is for folks living in Japan isn't it, not foreign tourists? How are they going to check?

fwiw, I thought they were going to run Go To before opening the border, partly as a way to get people in (insert conservative place) used to outsiders coming, but there you go.

All this does is inflate the prices of accomodation, hotels and inns will double their prices because the government will foot the bill. So if we get 11.000 yen per person per day, our stay should be free, because how many hotels charge 40.000 yen per night?

Why are people always whining about their tax money?

Now, in this case, your tax money is used for something you can personally profit from.

Or do you guys prefer, that your tax money is used for a new kind of Abe masks, or state funerals or something like that...?

I am living in Japan since many years and I am paying taxes since many years. And now the government is giving me a little bit back by supporting a travel.

If I have the time and the possibilities to go on a travel, and can profit from this campaign, I would be stupid not take it.

Yes sir, a second chance for all scammers to make tons of cash like the they did with Go Travel Scam.

Great news, I can get some benefit from the tax I pay. Used it 4 times last time it was on, waste of tax payers money but if its offered... why not?

Another massive amount of corporate welfare payments! These private sectors of the economy have been propped up far too long! If people really care about spending money to help these businesses, they shouldn’t need welfare !

Middle class people getting subsidized holidays, paid for by the taxes of the poor. Awful.

Uhh, sorry, but doesn't the middle class pay taxes too?

It seems to mean lot of the naysaying on here is done just to whine.

Here's a thought: if you don't approve of this campaign, simply don't participate.

I, on the other hand, appreciate and will participate in any such plan in which some of my hard earned taxes are returned, even in a small way.

Osaka in October for a Night Ranger concert...here I come!

Love this! Can't wait to take full advantage.

And the accommodation vouchers go to Hiltons, Hyatts, Sheratons, top tier operators that people can't normally afford. 33,000Yen for family of three per day would nicely suffice.

Smaller regional operators miss out.

But hey … I certainly hope that all of you that plan on taking full advantage of this program surely get ALL that comes with it as well .!. I do hope the jgov adds some minor rules such as “vaccinated” travelers only !

we stay in comfortable hotels for ¥10000 or less and eating out is about ¥6000. That leaves us with a daily profit of around ¥7000 a day. I’ve decided to retire in October.

Yatta Yatta! I can't believe nihon is finally openingu!!

Present Japanese PM had said about "ability to listen even small voices" of himself one year before.

But now, he dogmatically decides everything without even deliberation at the Diet.

Present Japan's problematic Kishida government increased domestic Covid19 deaths to 2.4 times during only less than 1 year since start of his regime last October.

Japan where failed to overcome Covid19 increases new deaths per pandemic year by year unlike other countries.

Total deaths of patients who couldn't get medical treatment or deaths per day during domestic infection 7th wave this summer were worst since 2020.

Japan repeats shortage of test or medical service whenever pandemic but government does nothing.

Japan is mere victimizing ordinal citizen day by day to benefit economy circle who support LDP regime.

Did anyone else notice, as soon as the October 11th, date was mentioned the average R/T ticket to Japan from North America jumped $500 ! Anyone? …anyone ?

Japan hotels and inns will raise prices because now the govt will be footing part of the bill, and incoming foreigners with the yen so weak will still feel cheap.

You can anticipate the current 6000 yen APA hotel room being 13000yen after October 11th.

Hoshino resorts 70000yen a room night will be 120000yen.

the scheme is "complicated and time-consuming."

Thats why government schemes are an ineffective use of taxpayer money.

Far better to just not spend it in the first place, and don’t tax us as much in the first place.

I must say I am a tad surprised to read people against this incentive. Tourism needs a boost and I will do my duty and help them.

This would be a smashing time for those on a low income to have a great time with their loved ones

Maybe it's not the incentive people are against, but the people who have to post how happy they are/that they're going to take advantage etc etc. It might be the culture of boasting that irritates others?

I say enjoy yourselves if you can. Being back home in Europe has been wonderful compared to the last few years of Japan hiding itself away from the world politically, but Japanese people doing what they want abroad without a care in the world.

It's nice that foreign visitors to Japan will have the same rights. So what if some people don't like them being there. There are plenty of Europeans who don't particularly like the Japanese tourists, either.

Japan will launch a new subsidy program to boost domestic tourism on Oct 11, the same day it plans to remove its daily cap for overseas arrivals

Would have been a lot more enjoyable travelling when there's still a cap on arrivals.

Now visitors would also have to contend with domestic tourists

At least The National Travel Discount is grammatically correct unlike the Go To Travel campaign name, so I like it better already.

I'm glad this slow-butt turtle govt. has finally abolished the group tour, visa, and cap for foreign tourists. Japan not taking advantage of the weak yen is utterly stupid.

If the Yen wasn't so weak, do you think the government would have opened the borders?
