This must baffle scientists as as the rampant cesium and strontium have half lives of over 30 years and plutonium 1000 years. Also the 30+ other iodizing radionuclides have very long half lives. Last time I went a couple of years ago, the radiation levels were six acceptable levels and that was about 10-15km from the closed zone.

If they wanna go home let’em go back, they know the health risks and just want to go home. Most would be elderly so they only have a number of years left, so long as they don’t take their grown up childen home. Nature has prob taken over homes, shops ect must be uninhabital by now and whats open and who’s gonna open a business. Good luck

Yes, for the people who want to go home, let them go home. ”Decontamination work” in nature doesn’t work like that, sure you can replace the top soil but did you cut down all the forests and bushes? When the next strong winds will bring soil from the forests and you breath the particles, you know the results. Not today or tomorrow, but in the long run.
