Why not Japan/JAXA sending people out to Moon (and beyond) by itself?

We have money, resources and technology. USA is just using us.

As the LDP are nominated leaders send them, why not, they can spread Japanese culture throughout the universe. And leave the rest of us alone.

I'm dying to know what aliens think of natto.
Fighto!
Promising news. But Japan should be spending a lot more on Space exploration, in light of the fact that PRC is planning a manned moon station by 2030s - and likely claim a huge portion exclusively for China. Japan should aim to beat them to it.

Will they wear 'recruit suits' for the interview?

Good.

Oh Dear....really?
America will get the credit again! Can you guess who the 2nd person landing on the moon will be? American! USA! Again!
Japanese astronaut will be in the background, paying for half the bills, getting 0 credit in history books. America will get the best best deal and the Fool of East Asia will pay for it, walk behind the proud American.... We did it Japan! America did it!

I'd readily sign up to that, but would probably be rejected - even though I am probably one of the most eligible individuals upon this planet to survive decalcification for long duration trips without loss of structural strength, and mental instability.
I will sadly just have to settle for the shorter Virgin Space trips :(

I am more than sure that this is one of the very last things this country currently needs. lol

We have to learn about earth before we try space.

JAXA has been sending robots to the moon by themselves and just last year they had their robot Hayabusa 2 visit the asteroid Ryuku and it's coming back to Earth right now with some rock samples.
Manned missions? Give it time. JAXA has done a few new 'firsts' already with droids, and it has put Japan's hat into the ring.
