Good, about time.

I would personally like to thank all the idiots who did stupid things with their drones and ruined it for the rest of us.

@Bugle, what have they ruined?

And STOP tourists using them wherever they want! Especially our Chinese friends, good grief, I had one over my garden the other day, I got it with a stone!

Public image. The idea that drones and their operators are dangerous is becoming stronger.

The carefreeness of flying drones. Now I have to go register my drone? Pain in the neck. Next will be mandatory insurance and licensing.

I hate to see govt legislating and taking control over such things, but considering the potential for a major aviation disaster I think they had no choice.

I was keeping a close eye on this as I understand HIS has started drone hire service in Japan recently (I work in travel industry)

I think such registration was expected & due and indeed I would not be surprised if (public liability) insurance becomes requirement.

Technology became so advanced (and cheap) it's not just .....a remote controlled helicopter for kids and enthusiasts.

I'm waiting for my take away to be dropped off by the drones on lazy days !

I hope you have a pain in the neck. Drone operators should be trained and aware of the laws. Regsitering will take 10 minutes. I'm a commercial drone pilot, so anything that stops clowns whizzing them over peoples heads at festivals is fine by me. The biggest threat to flying a drone will be the geozone restictions, not govt regulations

What about custom built racing drones? No models or makes on those

@Go=Go, at least drones are a meter above the ground!

Sweet! I'm aware of the laws, and always check to make sure it's okay to fly first. As far as training, I'm self trained and I get by, so I'm happy with that.

Is there now any difference between RC aircraft & Drones ?
