I respect the disagreement, but i do not feel that this program is in the interest of public health.

Suga's travel campaign only to benefit major travel corporation.

His politics neglected to respond Covid-19 epidemic such as improving insufficient PCR test system, and causes more heavy economical damage than surrounding countries.

I am safely watching Kyoto from the safety of my home on TV. Looking at the foliage in the Arashiyama district (which I have been to and recommend highly). I know it’s outside and everyone is masked but the volume of people is just not safe.

There is light at the end of the tunnel and for the first time since late January, it’s not an on-coming train. We just need to be alive when the vaccine becomes available (my liver needs to be functioning but that is a separate issue.)

Stay home, stay safe, hold tight. I don’t like it either, but it’s what we’ve got.

@rober maes @Zoroto

They've made a decision to make a decision (!)

A tough one for me. There are only about 20000 active cases in Japan, which is not a large number in the context of the overall population.

Stay vigilant sure, but let's not shut the whole country down.

The government taking its time to work out logistics, feasibility and impact.

Sounds like what you should expect from the government.

So much better than the hysterics of so many posters.

From Wednesday lockdowns Japanese style will be unavoidable in most parts of the country. These 3 days alone will quadruple the cases, if of course any testing is done.

The intended opening of travel with some other AP countries will be suspended either by Japan or those countries.

i wonder if the word “ decision “ in Japanese means the same as in English.

after they draw up the plans theyll need another week or so to decide on the final plans, then a week to decide on which type of font to use. then maybe they will think about considering a press conference. maybe.

in the meantime im going to get all the bargains in can in and travel a little more!

Japan will try to unveil in the next few days the specifics of how its Go To Travel subsidy program will be suspended in areas with high numbers of coronavirus cases, a senior government official said Sunday.

Sometimes there are cultural differences in expression and how a culture builds consensus to reach a decision.

And sometimes there is dragging your feet to milk a last few drops of corporate welfare from the public teat.

Lockdown lite didn’t work. Constitution needs to be changed and stricter lockdowns mandated.

a refusal to note the medical community's dire warnings.

In the same time, the medical community has also been vet pessimistic at times, and asks for stronger measures, also to protect themselves, if their business.

But stronger measures like lockdown do bring a lot of additional problems.

Now in Europe, the second lockdown in some countries causes an increase in psychological issues, the number of depression specially among the teenagers and young people has increased,

And then, job loss, financial issues, etc, etc

There is no way to find the right balance. Or just, let it go and wait everyone has a natural immunity, meaning a lot of casualties which is not the solution.

With no go to campaign, certainly more businesses would have closed here in Japan

Suspending the Go To subsidies may be necessary to contain the resurgence but that should come with full financial compensation for travel related businesses or it’ll be death sentence for those who work in the tourist industry,

Again, just like Abe, a lack of foresight in planning and a refusal to note the medical community's dire warnings. And these are the same folks who just pledged at the G20 that Japan will take the lead to combat climate change? Bye Felicia...

"Japan will try to unveil in the next few days"

That in its self is the whole reason Japan is never going to get things right with how they handle this virus. Everything is a limp wristed, half baked effort that they make just to show the people that they are 'sort of trying'.

Cut the crap, just give cash to LDP supporters, that is the plan after all. A circular flow of money.

Makes sense to wait a few days, until everyone is back home after enjoying a nice holiday.
