....and here I thought the Defense Ministry was monitoring it all along because it was their job. Silly me.

Nakatani and his goons need to start playing hard ball with the Chinese. Why not? They can always run and hide behind the USA whenever they flinch.

Silly season is about to begin as it does every year in August. Prepare yourselves for the usual back and forth over islands, Yasukuni and all that other stuff that happened 70 years ago.

But then those same muppets want to take Japan to the same court over Senkaku. If the Japanese gov had half a brain between them they put up a big stink about China not respecting the court's decision and show it as further proof that no arbitration is needed by the court over their dispute of the Senkakus.. but no one ever accused the Abe Administration of being intelligent..

Interesting to see you conflicted about whether you should hate Japan more or China, and choosing to hate on both in the end.
smithinjapan
As they should -- given that they are constantly engaged in provoking each other and the announcement that Abe will seek to change the Constitution less than a day after the election he swore was about the economy is the biggest provocation to date.

Stupid choice of words. You mean hate the Japanese government more or the Chinese Government, and choosing to hate on both in the end.
And I hate both governments. Both are using nationalism to control and scare the people. You?

Unfortunately, many people see any criticism of any facet of Japan or the culture as hating everything -- they are THAT insecure.

Where as some of us see criticism of every facet of Japan and/or the culture as hating everything.

Although the focus is on China, the ruling may also clarify what is needed in order to meet the definition of sustaining human habitation or economic life under UNCLOS. If so, Japan's own EEZ claim based on Okinotorishima may go up in smoke in the next few hours.

So futile. Japan is nothing it once was copmarared to neightnouring countries. Japanese need to wake up to themselves. We will not keep you in cotton wool for too much longer.

Both countries should live in harmony.

Every one scare a starving dog named China , lol

The Permanent Court of Arbitration should also be asked about the status of Okinotorishima atoll and make a quick judgement so that it will not be accused of being anti-China , thus eroding its status .
In the same vein, America should actively support such a clarification so that it will maintain and reinforce its standing as the worlds most fair and honest broker.

Smith, I concur 100%

Some people here criticize literally everything about Japan that comes up on this site, and never speak up for Japan when criticisms are wrong or unfair.
So maybe they don't hate every facet of Japan, but pretty darn close.
Aly Rustom
Exactly. Spot on.

Stranderland: "Some people here criticize literally everything about Japan that comes up on this site, and never speak up for Japan when criticisms are wrong or unfair."
Utter BS. Prove it -- especially since you are a guy who said you hate the use of the word "literally" when it is not that.
"So maybe they don't hate every facet of Japan, but pretty darn close."
Even if some people hate a lot of things or it's "pretty darn close", for a guy who literally said EVERYTHING, you just proved yourself to be mistaken.
In any case, the problem is just as easily the shoe on the other foot when people suggest 'literally all' criticism is unfair or wrong. Do tell us what's wrong with Aly's criticism of BOTH governments in using nationalism to push their agendas, for example.
