She said I was socratic, but it was entirely platonic.

I think Burning Bush's comment was regarding the shallowness of men, and not women.

Apparently the article was satire

I remember Christopher Hitchens causing an uproar with an article about why women aren’t funny - they don’t need to be.

I don’t agree with him that women aren’t funny, but I get his point that they have to do much less when it comes to pick up lines.

Socrates is also credited with the famous remark: "By all means, marry. If you get a good wife, you will be happy. If you get a bad one, you will be a philosopher."

Just goes to show that not all "smart" people have all the answers!

I am a "philosopher" with a great wife and I'm happy too! (Been that way for over 35 years now!)

Best advice I can share to both the men and women here, be honest! Goes a long way to building a lasting and strong relationship!

Lots of people have to many issues, to be in a relationship, first they should concentrate on their issues, by not unwittingly imposing your issues on another person

We don't really know what Socrates sounded like., but maybe his voice was enough to make you want to drink poison, or the other way around.
